Hey I watched this I found it interesting, but once some thinking about how the weapons are constructed it makes perfect sense. Don't see why anyone would claim these testes are faulty, (if anyone does that is) pretty simple.

They each have their strengths. I would prefer my old m60 to either

What a "loaded" debate thread. haha....eh. For every test that favors one, there is a test that favors the other. Had more than several of each over the years. Both can be reliable and unreliable. However, if I have a choice, for reliability, fire power and accuracy, I easily choose my HK91 over both.

Timely post, as I snagged a Colt Trooper LE6920-R four days ago for $799 that features a 13" Centurian forend valued at $230. Interesting vid, though few would realistically shoot a rifle covered in THAT mess. AK are good for conditions where general maintenance is lacking. AR system superseded AK after teething problems were addressed in Nam', 50 years ago. Nowadays there is better stuff though at a price, and it is telling that AR/M4 is still used (even after factoring beaurocratic nonsense) by U.S. and many other countries militaries. AK is great gun that fires a heavy round, and you can get good deals. It is also abundant in many parts of the world, due to former Soviet commie (bastards) cold war push.

Nice AR howler. On my "pre ban" Colt AR carbine, still want to try a bull barrel upper in .300.

Nice AR howler. On my "pre ban" Colt AR carbine, still want to try a bull barrel upper in .300. There are very good deals out there, so people should stock up before potential (most likely individual blue state) political winds blow the other way, as I'm not really worried (for now) about any new Federal firearms laws, but I live in DEEP blue Seattle area. In the blink of an eye you'll see $3,000 dollar Bushmasters...then NOTHING...as state and local laws start being passed.

....having flashbacks to thumbhole stocks and 5 round magazines ....having said that, I am all for any and all methods that keep at least "spray and pray" weaponry, out of the possession of the mentally ill and violent prone criminals.

Yup, in other words, prosecute criminals with laws that are already on the books (as firearms are the most regulated stuff anyway), and deal with mental illness issue as well as gangs. Fully automatic "machine guns" are super regulated, expensive, and hardly ever used in crimes. In reality, the semiautomatic rifle is rarely used in crimes, so it really is the gang issue. People must be careful with the "any and all methods" because you must decide how much power one wishes "the STATE" to wield (and potentially abuse), as often common sense seems to go out the window. The problem is you can never stop people from having magazines (not talking Playboy ), which are ten cent boxes with springs, that is the semiautomatic/magazine interface. Also, sadly, many in political circles wish to use the issue as a starting point for confiscation/banning schemes and don't even know what the Second Amendment is there for (to deal with a potential future tyrannical govt. entity), which gives power to the individual (liberal or conservative) citizen and protects the First Amendment (and all the others).

For me, the U.S. gun issue seems to go from one end of the spectrum to the other end, without effective resolution. In the end, this is what I support:

For me, the U.S. gun issue seems to go from one end of the spectrum to the other end, without effective resolution. In the end, this is what I support: Firearm issue in America is dead, minus the installation of a police state, which would instigate the implementation of the Second Amendment (put in Constitution to stop the creation of police states)...a circular feedback loop. Just ain't worth it to chase down ten cent boxes with springs (magazines). I'm an animal lover, and sometimes I would love to see a little payback on hunters who poach, particularly endangered species. I would kill an SOB who slaughters Rhino, elephant, etc...for ivory and body parts that are hokey supposed aphrodisiac's to middle aged dudes with small pee pee's.

They each have their strengths. I would prefer my old m60 to either not if you had to carry your own ammo, you wouldn't. ONE lousy 100 rd belt is 6 lbs, the gun is 22 lbs. It's empty in 10 seconds, most shots having missed.

mentally ill people can poison, burn or blow up scores of people at a time and get away with it, no gun needed, no need to risk being present at the time things go to hell, either. HK rifle trigger pulls suck HARD and there's no way to fix them for rapidfire, altho there's a set-trigger option for slowfire. The blowback action demand a VERY heavy bolt and that bolt slam will always cause a nice trigger/sear engagement to slip.
