Fellow forum member, skane, recently relocated about a half an hour away from here, so today we got together to do some cutting with one of my longswords and two of his katanas. We cut a variety of mats: Mugen Dachi, used Japanese tatami and the tougher "checkerboard" Japanese tatami.

Had a great time; thank you for the hospitality Aikidoka! That longsword is a nice-handling smooth cutter!

I didn't say it before, but I always enjoy seeing how Skane cut smoothly with so casual cuts. That speaks highly about his skill.

Nice cutting guys, which katana did you use? One was the Dynasty Forge Shobu. I really enjoyed cutting with it! That's what I used for the double cut on 2 mats. I had owned one of their Musha Shinogi-Zukuri Katanas and was not impressed (very blade heavy). But the Shobu is well balanced and cuts well skane would have to tell you the name of the other katana. He told me. But I forgot

I was impressed with the longsword, it's a nice handling smooth cutter and went right through that Japanese checkerboard tatami. Thanks again for hosting the session Aikidoka !
