I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of most fantasy swords, but this one caught my eye, especially since they say it's carbon steel, and the price is quite low (although not if ordering from the EU): www.kultofathena.com/product~item~BK1432~name~War+Blade.htmProbably is balanced like a lead weight, though, and odds are that it's lacking in heat treatment (might well be crap quality otherwise, too), but I like the way the flame pattern is kind of "counter-engraved" on the blade.

1/2" thick blade, how wacky is that. Looks sweet, though from the close ups it seems to be cast.

1/2" thick blade, how wacky is that. Looks sweet though. That was the spec that captured my interest. It it were the usual 1/8, 3/16, etc., it would just be another fantasy wallhanger (albeit a cool looking one). With the blade described as "nearly 1/2" thick", things suddenly become more interesting.

that actually is kinda neat. Though at 1/2inch thick how much must those things way. Who knows might be good for chopping small logs

It could be nothing more than a wall-hanger in my opinion, and it would still be worth it. I mean come on... $25? It looks wicked, and let's not forget the 1/2'' thick steel spine which begs for inspection.
hm... I wonder how sturdy the construction is...
