So I have decided to buy another Webley to play with. I have always enjoyed collecting and shooting 37mm riot guns (my user name on many forums are/were Stopper, named after the ZA Stopper tear gas gun, then I moved to Aus, riot guns are very illegal here so I called myself Stopped). I have moved to a state where flare guns are not considered firearms and guess what? 1.5inch flare and 37/38mm tear gas rounds are interchangeable, many riot guns are simply flare pistols with a long barrel and a stock. So for old times sake I thought I would buy a 1.5 inch flare pistol, I found an all steel Webley. It was built on the 455 frame, not the small 1 inch brass job. I can't really shoot them in Aus but shot a few baton rounds out of a the Webley back when I was ZA, what a beast, it was more comfortable shooting a .454 Ca one handed! Movies flare gun last ditch defense scenes don't do these things justice, a baton round will launch a 1800gr projectile at 300ft/s out of these pistols, giving it muzzle energy comparable to a 9mm Luger. It may not penetrate but at close range, it is like hitting someone with a baseball bat. It is really pity that I can't shoot them here.... Found it one locally for $500 with WW2 holster, could have been cheaper but I wanted it bad There is a US M8 for sale too but I don't like the looks and I don't want the thing that these pistols are supposed to be attached to (a plane via a bayonet type mount), but maybe I should buy it....

you know it is a big pistol when you can put the slide of a 1911 thru the barrel For those who live in country where 37mm/1.5 in can be owned and shot, 125gr of FFG behind a D size battery using the cap of a film can as a wad will launch the thing out to 250meters. Alternatively a old film can filled with 4 oz of 9# lead shot will give up a home made bean bag load of sort (please don't use it as non lethal round, this is pretty deadly)

But it is capable of shooting Ferret, as in Ferret Barricade Penetrating CS round. I wish I could own them
