Best of luck to everyone. I'd like to win because shipping a sword to South Africa costs about as much as a second sword, and our modern reproduction market seems limited to a Cold Steel 5 Ball Spadroon for sale on one website. That said, some had some really moving stories, and I wouldn't feel a shade of ill will if they took this one home. Again, best of luck

Honoring Chris' request, I'm not voting for myself. There are several members whose experiences mirror my own in one way or another and several that have traveled a different path. I have been fortunate enough not to have had to travel some of those paths. I voted for Blade Runner not just because of the path he traveled but also that he chose to expose that part of himself here. Good Luck to everyone who entered and an extra ounce of good luck for those who had a tougher path to get where they are now. I am humbled by your kind words and vote. Thank you!

In the event of a tie consisting of more winners than prizes I'll likely fall back on the classic random number generator to pick the "short straw".

If you vote for me, I'll sack your town, burn your house, and force you to fight to the death with wild animals in my arena.
Wait, hang on - I think I'm doing this wrong....

I LOVED all the submissions. All the stories were excellent and it meant a lot to me to see inside people's minds for a glimmer of an instant. All great submissions. I voted for Blade Runner's entry to be honest. I saw a lot that reminded me of my own path and that kind of pain, loss, and struggle is all too real. It really jumped out at me. Best of luck.

Many of us here, have been through some difficult journeys or at least understand what what that means. The good news is what the philosopher, Nietzsche said: "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." Thank you very much for your comments and your vote!

Firstly, a big "thank you" to the people who voted for me. I appreciate that, especially given some of the later posts. It's taken me a while to decide on my vote. There are some very strong and moving stories there, and some very deserving people. I only have some swords myself right now due to someone's kindness. I thought I had decided, then I quickly re-read them again this morning. I spotted one paragraph that really hit home for me, and swung my vote. This one from tancred : The first 30 years of my life were spent trying to find my wife. That was pretty much the only thing I really cared about and needed from life from my earliest memories. It took a long, and difficult, journey to get there, mostly due to my ASD. The romance side of all the various fantasy novels was always a big part of them to me. Unfortunately my search didn't involve swords so much, even though I would cheerfully have hacked my way through hell to find her; or heaven, either way. I wish I could have, it would have been much easier. Anyway, I have my 'Valeria' now, and she's a good 'un. She's the strongest, bravest person I've ever known and, best of all, she said I can have some swords She has even claimed one of them as hers, and joined my pirate crew! Wow - that turned out nearly as long as my story, lol.

Rick, that's very cool! Happy to know I'm not the only one who enjoys the chivalrously romantic aspect of swords and their stories. Also really cool to hear how you've found your fair lady. The chivalrous knights-errant of old would have been proud. Thank you kindly for the vote, too!

Uh, vote for me, Samuraiforchrist, and I promise you all... umm... By the power of Grayskull... That in, umm... brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight... I will, umm... Fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way... and strike fear into the hearts of criminals, a cowardly and superstitious lot... As I am, umm... one with the Force, and the Force is with me... With One Ring to rule them all... to boldly go where no man has gone before... With, um, liberty and justice for all!!!
Oh, and I like ice cream! You can trust a guy who likes ice cream, right? 😉 😜

There are actually a lot lot lot of great stories, and I really wish I could vote for more than one, but I have to give the nod to Blade Runner. Good luck, everyone.
