Not sure if this counts, but I would consider myself as a mercenary/sellsword. I pick up additional weapons and armor from my vanquished opponents. Toying with the idea of adding either a gorget or leather chest armor. Influenced/inspired by none other than Voltan the Dark One from "Hawk the Slayer."

So I have been composing a bunch of armor pieces together to go for a couple of costumes, one of which is a dark souls type death knight kind of thing. For Halloween this year I donned the partial set and we wound up with an ok result, I think: For those curious it is consisting of Tunic, leggings, and boots, blackened steel coif (butted) with brass ring accents, a blackened maille steel hauberk (riveted interlocked with solid ring) also with brass accents, plate armor is a set of 18 ga steel with vambraces, shin greaves, pauldrons and breast and back plates. I then added an 18 ga gorget and 18 ga helmet loosely inspired on Corinthian design. I know it is mismatched but I think it looks cool. What do you guys think?

I'm going to grab some estus before going anywhere near you haha
Looks awesome. Everything about that armor set looks really cool, breastplate especially. The helmet gives off a Gregor Clegaine kind of "don't mess with me" look.

That's a fantastic setup I think. Has sort of a malevolent look. I like it!

That's a fantastic setup I think. Has sort of a malevolent look. I like it! Thanks! I wanted a sort of Dark souls vibe but not over the top evil looking so I could change the vibe with the maille. Black maille = evil vibe. Silver maille = more pure of heart. I definitely like the blackened maille better w/ it due to the contrasting colors

I think it looks good. Reminds me of the cathedral knights from Dark Souls 3. But just in general a very soulsian look. If you wanted a more 'paladin' look to it, I would say different helm, maybe open faced, and the lighter maille. (As for contrast, doesn't have to be silvery, maybe some kind of plated coppery color or such.)

Is this the stuff you got from medeival collectibles? Looks awesome. The helmet came from medieval collectibles. The maille is from All Best Stuff (an eBay seller), and I can’t remember where I had gotten the plate from, but it is made by Epic Armoury.

As promised---a breakdown of my stuff: Pic #1-The Templar. The great helm was bought from Amazon---$69.95(no kidding!), the mail was had from KOA. It's darkened, round-riveted/flat ring---great stuff! Made by Lord of Battles. The Templar surcoat is a long-discontinued MRL item. It originally had long sleeves. The sword is an older Windlass that I got with a bundle deal. Pic#2- The Castle Guard. The great helm is by Deepeeka, bought from KOA. 14ga....love that thing! The gorget, pauldrons, and lower arms are by Mytholon, and bought through Medieval Collectibles. Very good costume-grade armor that won't send your bank account into shock. The breastplate is by Epic Armoury. Also good quality at decent prices. The tassets and knees are also Mytholon. I don't care much for the knees and will eventually upgrade to full upper cuisses and cased greaves. The sword--(duhh)--Hanwei Lowlander. Pic#3- The Stormin' Norman. The nasal helm is an ultra-cheapo from KOA. As it turns out, it's probably the favorite helm in my collection. It started as a metal bucket, but I added a liner and chin cord. Fantastic little helm! Mail by LOB/KOA. The leather vambraces are custom made, bought at Ren-fest. The axe...Cold Steel Viking...absolutely SICK. The sword...my most precious Hanwei Cawood Viking. I'll be buried with that sword. Well that's about it. I have a ton more I could show...but we'll wait for another day. Hope you all enjoyed.

Here's a hint of things to come. A dark knight awaits. Love it! My plate is also epic Armoury... not the best but certainly decent stuff! My maille is solid flat ring and flat ring riveted. Pretty good stuff given the 4-in-1 only has 1 riveted link out of the 5... not period but convincing and pretty darned strong....

I have the full set of EA 'Dark Warrior' armor. It looks totally awesome with the mail under it. I have the darkened sallet helm and the darkened sugarloaf. It'll do for a photo shoot, but I would NEVER wear it to a Ren-fest in Texas weather. Maybe some pieces, but the whole kit....nah. I'm too old and crippled-up for a trek like that. They'd be hauling me out on a stretcher. Now, if I were 21 with a good back.... ?....maybe.

Forgive the cheap butted mail It's and old gift. One day I wish to complete a 13th century knight but,as of now this is what I have. Mens joggers for cheap hosen, the warriors gambeson from Epic Armory , get dressed for battle 13th century soldier boots and the Hanwei tinker arming sword.
