In fact, Van of Sinosword said they could even make custom medieval blades if provided detailed specs/drawings. However, they can not make medieval crossguards, pommels, etc.
...yeah, been thinking about doing it.

The Shears of Atropos greatsword is finally complete (after 10 months). It's ready to start killing apostles of the God Hand and/or tatami and water bottles. As most know, Zen had this mega monster blade custom made at Sinosword. Zen - Just awesome! Can you share your blade specs (blade length, width and thickness and weight)? Very interested in your motokasane and Sakikasane (blade thickness at lower and upper blade to show distal taper). The specs of what I originally ordered for the blade are on page 2 of this thread. Here is what I ended up with:Overall Length: 152.4 cm / 60 inches Overall Weight: 3.175 kg / 7 pounds Nagasa: 106.68 cm / 42 inches Moto-haba: 5.08 cm / 2 inches Saki-haba: 4.0 cm / 1.58 inches Moto-kasane: 9 mm / 0.354 inches Saki-kasane: 5.79 mm / 0.228 inches (at center ridge line) Sori: 2.54 cm / 1.0 inches Tsuka length: 40.5 cm / 16.0 inches Pommel diameter: 6 cm / 2.362 Blade Style: Kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri (with blade profile change at around 38 cm (15 inches) from kissaki tip. 9260 steel, through hardened blade

I pulled the trigger yesterday on ordering a custom nodachi/odachi from Sinosword/JKOO. I basically tweaked what Blade Runner ordered and made it bigger while redistributing weight. I wanted an overall length of 60 inches, but Van informed me that 58 was as long as they could go without finding a different shipping solution. I went the shirasaya route because I intend to hilt it myself in a European fashion. I just need to find a guard and pommel in the style that I want. I'd love to use The Printed Armoury's Reisläufer complex Swiss guard and twisted pommel, but they are out of stock and supposedly won't be restocked for about a year. If anyone wants to sell me a set please PM me. For anyone interested, here are the details of my blade order. Overall Length: 58 inches Nagasa: 106.5 cm (42 inches) Motohaba: 5.08 cm (2 inches) Sakihaba: 4.0 cm (1.58 inches) Motokasane: 9 mm (0.354 inches) Sakikasane: 6 mm (0.24 inches) Sori: 2.54 cm (1.0 inches) Torii style Tsuka length: 40.5 cm (16.0 inches) Morozori style Nakago: Within 1.27 cm (0.5 inches) of tsuka end Mekugi: 2 pins Blade Style: Kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri (with blade profile change at around 38 cm (15 inches) from kissaki tip. Double, geometric bo-hi The edge should be as sharp as possible with Niku 9260 steel, through hardened blade mirror polish nature wood shirasaya with brown horn fittings Found it. Mega nice!

That is the exact look I was going for, only longer and with a silver tsuba. Did they use my specs as a guide? Agonized over getting a bo hi. Now I know I should have.

Between the distal taper and kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri blade shape, the balance is fantastic. The PoB is just a couple inches past the guard. Zen -- Your Mega Monster sword and the Mega Machete sword makes me think of Fable Blades Ice sword below. LOL!

Haha....eh . Yes, before Zen had it made, I warned him about not making the kasane too thick like me. I think he did make it thinner. I think a -few- of us may have warned you, Blade.

The proportion is definitely something I have been working up to commissioning one day. I NEED a great sword version of a cinquedea. Just image that Ice blade covered in fullers and with a scaled up cinquedea hilt!
