Thats what my original plan was, to make a functional two handed leaf blade, for raw cutting power, since they aren't too common on the market. I am not sure how to tweak this design for two handed use though. I have never even held a leaf blade before. Closest thing I got is a kukri machete I am fine with what ever the forge prefers though. Well, to be honest your original design looks absolutely perfect for a two hander. I know the forge has their say in things, but I also have been looking for an actual, functional leaf bladed two hander for awhile now and your hilt fits beautifully with that design. Also, you hit the nail on the head that there aren't many, if any, available now; so like you I haven't held one either. I'd buy one in a heartbeat though, that's my point!

shadowheart: I been drawing since I was 12ish. Or maybe 14. I have an art thread to show off whatever else I choose to draw. I been on and off since I first started, like I do with most things I do. Glad you like the design. Would love to see yours.
dchisenh: Thanks! I basically drew a type X with a more narrow base (Though it would be thicker) and a slightly wider cutting area (and a lot thinner too), so in a way, it would have some distal taper. I know that after its altered, its no longer a type x, but the original base I used was basically the shape of a GSOW, only I wanted the base to be thicker, so it would be stiffer

I used to do anime a lot, but I started life portraits in highschool as well, to try expand my range. A lot of my art is mildly cartoony, but with life like shading. Well, I try to make it life like anyway haha

Prefer longer swords but in any case will be buying a Djinnobi sword when available!

And to Paul: I forgot to mention, if some things look a bit iffy, feel free to have the forge alter a few things if they think it will best fit the function. I am pretty lenient on the specifics, so magic, do as you will.
I could change things about the scabbard, or even draw an entirely new one if need be. The one I drew was with a budget in mind so it won't be too tough to reproduce. But an interlocking harness type thing can be drawn on too

Because the dimensions of the original design look good as a shortsword, and because it fits the story of blades 22" or less being able to be forged from an Unobtanium alloy and have a magical quality, I think we should go with the shortsword design. Anyway, I think we have all we need to get started - will advise the forge and if they have any questions that we have not covered, will let you know.

Much prefer this as a short sword (with the one handed grip).
Nice work.

Much prefer this as a short sword (with the one handed grip). Nice work. Its been growing on me at a rapid pace. I can almost imagine the Tuatha using this with a big shield, using roman phlanx type combat. Would be an awesome idea for a once powerful, though now possibly extinct race

Decided to add this here cause why not. Might as well get an idea of what the sword would look like with a smaller person holding it. *edit* I fixed the sword scaled to her size As one can see, the sword is arming sword length to her, and she could fit on two hands. But a 6" tall person would use the sword like a short sword, one handed

You could legally import a Red Panda.......after a Siberian (white) Tiger and Polar Bear, they're my 3rd favorite animal. Plus they LOVE being drawn! 😁

Cool illustration - and yes, it has taken a while to settle on its final form/size but I think that with the Tuath De story taking shape about a race of unique, silver haired sleight of build people and the sword in one hand and a shield to protect their relatively frail bodies makes for one great tale in the telling.
The specs have been submitted to the forge, will keep you posted if they have any questions or need some additional feedback/info.
