ORIGINAL SPECS AND DESCRIPTION (Designers initial notes and description):
Longsword of Danu. Typical long sword dimensions for this one. I combined moon motifs to pay ode to the Celtic Goddess Danu, and a leaf blade, which celts were known for, though not in longsword dimensions.
Story: The Tuatha De Danann came to ireland in clouds in the sky some say. Others say they burned their boats on the shore when they arrived. They were the people of the Moon Goddess Danu, who led them to lands of enlightenment which was said to give them god like powers. Possessing technology that surpassed the locals, they crafted swords of superior build, with a pommel that was a homage to their guiding Goddess, Danu. The sword that their King, Nuada, possessed would glow in his hands when he pulled it from the scabbard. Their reign over Ireland continued for many years
The leafblade shape and overall design tends to suit a short sword better than a longsword in my opinion. Blade length of 22" with longer handle perhaps for one or two handed use?
TECHNICAL QUESTIONS UNANSWERED:
Having a little trouble with the scale on this one and not sure of the best stats. Grip should be hand and a half length? Need to figure out the stats. May also need to explore the complex guard from some other angles.
Handle should be cord wrapped leather in dark green? Fittings should be steel or brass? (thinking an all steel look might be best).
Scabbard - any extra details on the scabbard? Perhaps a crescent moon motif somewhere? What color should it be?
BACKGROUND STORY EXPANSION:
If a shortsword, perhaps these swords could have been made in ancient times by the the Tuath De when they warred against the early Empire and was also made by Unobtanium and further enchanted by Drudic magic to something like a +3 blade with an additional Druidic power or two.
Or perhaps this sword is a one off enchanted Tuath De blade owned by a powerful chieftan and waiting to be discovered in his burial mound. Though as the chieftain still holds it in his undead hands, anyone seeking it might end up getting much closer to the pointy end than they had initially had in mind..
