Sus Oktopodis Barbecuensis Just had the idea of such a pig with 8 legs (Bavarian: haxn) and looong spareribs... ...drooling... And not to forget the credit to Alan Burt Akers (Kenneth Bulmer) for the eight-legged killerweasel.

Just Previewing how they should look: Armourdillo armourdillo (ok, fine, armordillo for the Americans) Height: 2ft length: 4 ft diameter 2.5 -3 ft Weight: 60 lbs for young specimens, up to 300 lbs+ Strength: immense Intelligence: low, slightly above armadillo Language: animal noises Special Abilities: eats and digest metal and ore, when in extreme can trough porcupine-like metal spikes, takes time to regrow, great digger (even through stone) Special Defenses: roll-into-ball, thick metal shell, quite heat resistant Appearance:a large armadillo with a metal shell, metal claws, metal spiked tail Rarity: found only in areas with large amounts of scrap metal or rich ore (battlefields) notes: the metal shell is in a special crystalline (and alloyed based on its diet) structure that is flexible but extremely hard and does not felt until about 3 times the melting point of steel, and is mildly toxic. it is thus sought for its special metallurgical properties by skill artisans. the empire farms them and calls them vitarmatura (living armour). though it is diffuclt to remove the armour from them while living, it is not lethal and possible by skilled mages Habits: nocturnal, solitary, family groups with young, mammal ********************************************************************** Autoscripton No Picture Available autosctripton (self writer) (Imperial term) Height: 6in humanoid, with wings type: fae, self-propagating thought-form Weight: 200-400 g Strength: enough for its size Intelligence: IQ ~110, very creative, and occasionally witty Language: can learn anything Special Abilities: can change its appearance, and temporarily other attributes by bathing in ink or by writing on itself in elvish (e.g. for strong makes it strong) ink tattoos will fade within 60 min; ink baths can last up to 6h Special Defenses: small Appearance: small fairy, with glyphs floating on their garments Rarity: found naturally only in special magical places in the earth where the earth itself seems to thinks them into being can be found in the citadel where they have a symbiotic relationship with the mages, for whom they do small tasks in exchange for a supply of ink and room and board (naturally including room and board) like all fae, their presence can increase the potency of magic ********************************************************** Gulo Oktopodus Question for the mods or tech minded: Can I add attachments (pics primarily) as I go along or do I have to place them all at the beginning and then insert the text around the pictures ? If this is the case I'll run out of space on the post for attachments before i get to the letter b and it would prevent inserting new creatures into alphabetical order. Would it be better to create individual threads per creature/monster and then make a separate thread as an index like the review threads or the Vendor thread ? Thanks in advance, Pete

Orc, Uruk Hai-ish
Height: 6-7ft Weight:200-375lbs (dependant on armor) Strength: Average to Olympic Ability (before magical enhancement) Intelligence: Low to Average Languages: Orcish (Occasionally Common, Abyssal, or their "employers" language) Special Abilities: Nothing magical, but uncanny tracking skills due to heightened hearing, sense of smell, and low-light vision. Special Defenses: With high constitution, Orcs can take a beating and keep on coming, but the majority are not quick learners and hence have short life spans. Appearance and Rarity: Out in open country, mountains, deserts, and the Badlands especially, maurading bands of brutish Orcs are quite common. Powerful Wizards, Abyssal Lords, and anyone with enough money, magical items, or food can "employ" the services of an Orc band.......but, as the old saying goes "Only a fool trusts an Orc twice." On rare occasions wealthy merchants will employ "civilized" Orc children they've found abandoned and raise them to be servants, valets, or even bodyguards. Female Orcs fight alongside and are trained with the males, the only difference in gender being childbirthing. Half-Orc children are often beaten and berated, but not treated as "outcasts" like they would be in Human societies. and sometimes they eat human children.....
Lifespan: The oldest living Orc on record never learned to count........

You've been in the dungeon for over an hour winding back and forth through corridors when you turn a corner and run into a small fat elephant with huge ears. He appears to be smiling and hovering in the air. What do you do ?

I'm starting with the smaller creatures first......other than Andi's bold entry of Giant Flying Jellyfish (a Bavarian delicacy I'm thinking?) πand his riding centipede/giant worm! Bigger stuff as the countries and cities fill up with people and characters to challenge such massive creatures!

I think it could be a good idea to post one empty template without any comment, which we can quote and fill with our weirdo stuff. If the first line is the creature's name you perhaps can sort it alphabetically. I would add a line for the "usage" f.e. "inhabitant" or "mount" or "pack animal" (hehe). Freq: I have a name for your beast: "Squamata Thorensis" - armored flying hammertail lizard

SURE! You want me to write it up first thing in the morning or you can use the one I started out with for the tundra yeti, or the Orc one is a better detailed one. Do you think me picking the Uruk Hai style orcs from LOTR was better than the boring old D&D Orcs?? LOVING your ideas by the way Mon Ami!!

Just wanted to make your work easier. Still got ideas: Shapeshifter Plantmaster F@ginius (controls small animals to do his jobs (name is a bad idea, always gets censored, how can you talk about Oliver Twist here?)) Ammo bee (of course) Battleorcs, breeded with weapons/mountings instead of hands (four?) and armor-skin.

SHAPESHIFTER (homunculufungus amabilis) Height: 4 - 7 ft. (like humans/elves/orcs etc) length: 1 - 3 ft. diameter 1 - 3 ft. Weight: 100 - 300 lb. Strength: human/elve/orc Intelligence: like human or a bit above, can handle multible memories. Language: human/elvish/orcish etc. Special Abilities: Catches and stuns humanoid victim, injects spores that transmute victim's brain into a copy of the shapeshifters brain with both memories, shapeshifter dies after this, but his personality lives on in the victim and the victim's inner body is slowly transformed to a new spore injector. Special Defenses: Stunning poison under fingernails. Appearance: Where the victims live. Rarity: Extremly rare, very complicated offspring breeding, controled by the lich king. notes: Evolved from body replacing fungus. Habits: Charming, tends to invite to strolls Γ deux. Usage: Infiltrator, lich king's spy. (AndiTheBarvarian) ******************************************************
