Okay folks - the period for entries to the SBG Fantasy Design contest is officially closed and the thread locked down. As such, THIS thread will be used for discussion and updates. I have already gone over all the entries and selected a 'shortlist' of 26 designs - a pretty long 'shortlist' - but over the next week or two the finalist designs will be examined and cross examined by the senior smiths and management at BCI to determine how feasible each of the designs is, try to get some idea of how much they will cost to produce, and then - once we have a true shortlist of finalists whose swords CAN be made real.. It is not going to be a super fast process, but rather slow and steady - but oh so very interesting (as there is also a 'world building' exercise attached to this project - and we will also need some artists to help with some of the illustrations of the characters who are alluded to in the backstories, etc). Will update you all again once the BCI team have finished inspecting the so called shortlist.. In the meantime, I wanted to thank everyone who entered the competition or otherwise participated in the thread. An awesome response guys, and some REALLY great and innovative designs..!!!

I would be more than happy to do illustrations. Even if just the rough sketches. If any of my designs are picked, I would happily do any illustration as a bonus. Even if not to your likings, it could serve as a template or something
I used to practice photo realistic art. So I think it might be okay looking at least.

Excuse me Paul, you said something about illustrating the contestant's characters? Are we allowed to upload some of our designs and drafts for these characters?
Thanks

Even if you do not choose one of us as a main artist, we could upload some designs for who ever you do enlist to take inspiration from

I'll be happy to upload regardless of whether or not they're selected haha. Its good practice. But it would be kind of wierd if we upload our designs and drafts but our sword wasn't chosen

Glad I participated in the contest, it was fun even though my art skills are put to shame by toddlers. Anyway, I'd be happy to help contribute to worldbuilding and backstories, even if my designs aren't picked. And good luck to everyone

Dibs on any and all Dark Elf cities, backstories, deities, guilds.....etc. In my D&D campaign (from almost 20yrs ago) I created a world "dominated" by the Drow, and as such have source materials from R.A Salvatore, Ed Greenwood, and other authors that I've emailed back and forth with over the years, plus original stories, characters, and weapons used in my campaign. I have zero problem with SBG using any of my information for this "world" being created. Paul, let me know whatever you need, okay?

I can do some drawings, if you need some. My stuff looks a more on the cartoonish side rather than realistic though.

Looks great Djinnobi - yup, this is the kind of thing we need to really flesh out the characters and the fantasy world our mythical swords will appear in.

I vote here and now that the "common" language spoken in this mythical world be spoken with an Aussie accent (NOT a British one) in honor of our fearless leader!!

But what about the majestic Canadian accent, eh? Paul: Thanks man! The compliment means a lot. I would be more than happy to pitch character designs

I am more than happy to do world building and writing for the characters! Especially if any poetry is involved! Ballads are a specialty I can also do rough concept designs as a starting point for professionals to work from
