Nice Luka! It feels like such a light sword hey? Mine is one of my top favorites in my collection....I just wish it was a bit more heavy duty. Sorry to hear your leather wrap is loose. Congrats on the new aquisition!

I've had my Godfred for a good year or more now and the grip hasn't really loosened to any great extent. I dry handle it pretty often but very seldom cut with it and when I do it's just cardboard. It's held together nicely so far, though I can wiggle the pommel a bit if I really try, other than that just as solid as anything else I have.
My favorite feature, aesthetically, is the blued hilt furniture. I'm a sucker for a good, dark bluing.
The Godfred is my #2 handling Euro-style sword, right under my SBG AT 1315, and miles above my Hanwei William Marshall. That said, it doesn't compare at all to the AT's and Albions I got to play with at ShooterMike's, but then I only paid $265 for mine. Retail is something like $465, though, right? Far too much, that. I had gotten mine from By The Sword back before they jacked their prices up; Kult of Athena charges somewhere between what I paid and what they retail, last I checked.
Where'd you get yours and what'd you pay, if you don't mind my asking?
Oh, and mine is also quite unsharp, but it's sharp enough that a good cut will still be a good cut.

I've been hearing a lot of people say that theirs wasnt very sharp...mine came razor sharp upto withinan 2 inches of the guard....well sharpened too, there is no secondary bevel at all...its straiht right from the fuller to the edge.
One of my favorite parts of this sword is actually the scabbard....when I first saw this sword hanging in the local shop I thought "now that looks like a REAL antique" and had to have it.
I just wish it would be able to stand up to heavy cutting. If ever I break the blade I will definitly remake it with a stouter tanged blade for it truly is a beautiful sword.

Don't do that to me...I am a total sucker for Viking Swords. Now my wife is going to kill me when I tell her I have to have one. Oddly enough, the Viking swords were the least interesting to me last year. Now I can't seem to get enough.

Viking types are my favorite among the European offerings; always have been. I pity you poor married folks.

Yes, it's really light, even my girlfriend said it's light. But all she could compare it with was my 1.65kg DT2142. But it has just enough blade presence for a sword of its proportions. My Windlass Ulfberht was heavier then Godfred and I don't think that it had more blade presence. And I'm very nicely surprised with the rigidity of the blade compared with anything that I handled by Windlass. I buy all my swords through the local shop and I overpay all of them. This one I paid 3000HRK which is about $600. But that's life here in Croatia for sword lovers.

yeah, i payed damn near $600 for mine too at a local sword shop before I got my computer. I still go into those shops so I can handle everything then I say thank you and go home and order it off the web for literally half the price.

I really like the look of this sword, and it's scabbard. I live In Utah, but there's a place in Poccatello Idaho that sells this sword, and my parents promised that if we win the lottery, they'll buy me this sword can you tell me how the durability is?

Hey, welcome to the forums musical poo. Two quick pointers....before you post a thread.....check the date of the last entry....I noticed you posted on a couple that were many months old. Second if you use the search function....you will come up with many threads on this sword...I know I have posted on it many times myself....to save you time, of my collection I would consider it the least durable. But in its defence, it has taken a fair bit of abuse from me and is still in good working order and still razor sharp.

I would say there are great differences between some of the Godfreds. Mine was bad one. Got loose very soon, got cracks near the tip... But some people have no such problems...

I think I've officially decided against that sword as a lottery fantasy, I saw one review in which the blade snapped Thanks for the advice

I have always loved this sword but have seen some negative reviews in the past. It's nice to see so many people happy with it.

Just because it was talked about a few day/months ago doesn't mean it can't be talked about ever again. And if this is a rule is it stupid and needs to be changed.

Yeah, he's right. It's no biggie, mate. ;D
P.S. To give someone karma, click on the 'exalt' button over on the left, beneath the person's profile. However, you can only do this once an hour. I hope this helps!

BTW, here. Have a karma for being cool. ;D (oh, yeah. and that little thing about helping me decide that the DSA Gothic is the next sword on my list. Great recommendation!)

Oddly enough, the Viking swords were the least interesting to me last year. Now I can't seem to get enough. I'm in the exact same boat, Dale! Never liked any Euro swords, but now I'm in love with the vikings. Congrats, Luka, on the Godfred!
