Not to worry. It can be removed with metal polish. If you elect to do so consider polishing entire blade so that all will match.

better remove rust soon cause it only gets worse, i would not use metal polish yet, cause then you have an uneven polish, use a ScotchBrite pad with oil instead, check out how Albion swords are repaired: www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/sword-care.htm

That said, polishing can remove it...
