Is it just me, or is Ice ugly as hell?

Is it just me, or is Ice ugly as hell? I also don't think it's very good looking. not the best swords to come out of ASOIAF but it could be worse, Brienne's sword just looks awful in comparison to me

It's always fascinating to watch a real sword being made by true swordsmiths. Anyone want to take a guess how much something like this would cost.

Just noticed that MRL has their version of this sword on last chance sale for $375. KOA has it for $250 but it's back ordered and probably always will be.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

That fella in the photo standing next to that sword looks like me up against my Hanwei Lowlander. Over MY head, for sure. Then again, I'm 'vertically challenged'. ....Chris

I dont get the hype about Man At Arms, the swords are decent at best. This one is no exception, i mean where's the attention to detail ? Fullers, shape and lines of the blade looks like its been made by an amateur.

Well you know Kaiyo I decided a long time ago that if I can't do something better than someone else I'm not going to criticize them. Reason, because if they're better at it than I am the more I put them down the more I'm putting myself down.

Fullers, shape and lines of the blade looks like its been made by an amateur. it seems like it's mainly because they have time limits. They can't spend a long time on something, if I were commissioning a sword from them I'd hope for more attention to detail but when they're making stuff based off movies and games that only see the light of day for a youtube video and they have less than a week to build it I can look past this stuff.

I have seen a lot of swords from BKS which were VERY well made... last not least my own SBG LE sword and my Scimitar set... but its true, some of their MAA video stuff looks pretty rough, despite Ilyas awesome damascus work...

Their Excalibur was pretty neatly done if I do say so myself. But I think most of what they have on their sitw looks rough, at least from the pics. I wonder how much they'd charge for the Bloodborne saw cleaver though.

Reason, because if they're better at it than I am the more I put them down the more I'm putting myself down. Is that the criteria for your purchases? "It's better than I can make, I'll buy it!" I know if I used that I'd have some pretty crappy stuff I, personally, tend to stay away from negative comments on forums about makers. Not because I can't do better (I am not the benchmark for quality), but because it's just not nice. I am not a big fan of Ice, myself. Just doesn't tickle my fancy. Also not a fan of BIG swords.

The point was don't put someone who can do something better than you down because it's only putting yourself down. Applies to a lot of things in life not just sword making.

And I think it is an excellent point. I also agree that it applies to many things in life and is a good way to look at things.
My point is, that it really doesn't apply to someone selling a product they produced and a consumer's critique. A potential consumer, when pointing out things that they don't like about a product being sold, should not have to consider their own skill at making this item. That's all I meant.

I agree with this when it comes to things the people are selling, but you wouldn't look at Walter Sorrells' angle grinder knife and say it was done by an amateur because it's not their usual quality of work. I can't imagine any smith would be able to make a perfect looking sword in the 4-5 day limit they have starting from the place where BK&S frequently do for these videos.
