This is my first post on the forum so I hope I do a good job. Anyways, I've found a really cool site called fantasynamegenerators.com, and just as the name suggests, it's a site that you can generate all sorts of names styled from all sorts of fantasy movies, books, and games. Recently, however, while scrolling the site, I discovered it has a fantasy weapon generator. Now for those like me who aren't exactly artistically inclined, this is a blessing! I spent hours making swords, staffs, bows, and more with the plethora of options to choose from. Then, I realized I could make my dream sword. Now, I'm not talking about just a sword that "would be cool to have." No. I need something more, something I could be proud to wield, a sword that could almost literally be an extension of my arm, much like Aragorn and Andúril from Lord of the Rings, or Peter and Rhindon from Narnia. So first I thought about the name, and eventually I landed on Esrendel. Then for the sword, I knew I wanted a good two handed longsword with a spot of flair. Gradually, I landed on a good design. My only regret about this is the fact that I made it in the first place, because now I think about how it will be a long time before I'll be able to afford to commission it ;D but oh well. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, and again, this is my first post on the forum so sorry if there's anything wrong! Hope you guys enjoy! -Terricus

Hello Terricus and welcome to the forum! Funny site, thank you for sharing! I tried it a bit but could only insert one crossguard type, not the one I wanted.

I'd make the guard thinner and lose the downward curving quillons, as well as make the knuckle bow more spacious. The pommel looks okay, sort of like what was on Schiavonas. I like the blade shape, but I do think the widened area at the base may add unnecessary weight. It already looks like a broad sword with good cutting capacity.

The best advice I can think of is by clicking another cross guard and it should automatically replace the other, but since I've only used it on mobile I'm not sure what to do if you're using desktop. Play around with it a little and I'm sure you'll figure it out

Sometime I'll sit down and try drawing it out on paper and make some edits to it. I agree about the blade, it is a bit excessively wide towards the base, however I'm a little apprehensive about changing the crossguard as it would take a bit away from the overall fantasy design, but as I said I'll get it on paper one of these days so I can tinker around with it and see what works and what doesn't. Thanks for taking the time to make suggestions, I really appreciate it!

The only thing is that there is no place for the lion face (not sure what the term is) however I really like the direction you've taken it, especially with the knuckle bow and the simplification of the pommel. And thinking about it, what I could do with the lion is instead of positioning it on the hilt, I could make it smaller and center it in the fuller of the blade, kinda like what DSA does with they're logo (I think it's a griffin?). Also I'm not favorable to making it single handed, because two handed longswords to me just feel right in the hands, but shortening it a few inches probably isn't off the table.

As for making it a more reasonable size, 36 inch blade, 9 inch grip, 4 inch pommel, 7.5 inch long cross guard? That's a good size for two handed swords, long enough to get an advantage over other swords and short enough to be carried.

I was starting on a sketch and I looked up and saw that you changed yours to just what I was thinking about! I agree that the new dimensions make it much better for carry without taking from the two handed sword aspect. I may make some changes to make it a little more ornate but to be honest I don't really think there's much I could really do, it's really good!

Go to town on decorations I just put forward what I thought would be functional base, as a student of longsword and sabre. I'm glad you like it, I still have yet to commission a custom sword. Hopefully I get to see your vision made

I found out what the crossguard problem was, I tried to select a plain crossguard an in the selection box the quillons were not to be seen. It ended up as a viking sword, ...my very square imagination! (I'm not a big fan of squiggly fantasy designs, no offense) Tried the wisdom generator too, always looking for words of wisdom, esp. from Master Confusedus.
