Did got work on the billet I'm forge welding. This one is just a simple one type of steel folded over forge welded billet (japanese haha style. It has been folded twice, 4 layers. I will fold it about 9 times 512 layers. Right now it's 6 inches long 1 1/8 inches wide, 1/2in thick. Starting piece of steel was 10in long 1/2in thick, 1in wide. Still got a long ways to go. It will take me a few weeks working on my days off 3 to hours a day to finish this one out. 1075 steel. Once I finish the forge welding I will draw it out to about 10in long maybe longer, 1in wide by 3/16in thick. This is just a test of my forge welding skills using using some thick pieces of steel I have. The next one I will go longer and more pieces maybe 3.

You might have a very long time to save, it will be awhile before I ever forge out a folded sword billet. Don't have a power hammer or hydraulic press do it all my hand.

My Miss Flexie is my favourite sword as far as function and blade type goes. Would easily be my favourite in terms of everything if i was as big into tactical as i was half a year ago

Still working on this billet at 4 folds now, 16 layers. Think I will stop at 6 folds, 64 layers.
Next up it cable pattern weld steel. Started with a piece of 3/4in cable twisted it tighter fold welded it once. starting on the second fold, think it will be the last fold on this one. Might twist it again.

The steel billet is finished 7 folds 128 layer. It ready to forge into a knife. Screw the hell out of the cable it comes to the scaple pile win some lose some. Should have ever twisted it again, live and learn
I'll start on another fold ove billet hopefully won't lose as much metal to scale this time.

Here the blade I got from the billet, ended up a lot smaller than I planned, messed up the fold a couple of times. Anyway it was folded 7 time for 128 layers. So far I'm happy with it all the welds look good. Can really see them with it polished to 400 grit. Will get it etched soon so I can see the pattern should be fairly straight since this is folded forge welded steel. Working on another billet right now, just another folded steel one. I am doing this with out a power hammer or press.

Also working on a billet out of pieces I cut off other projects. Hate to waste any thing, I will post is pretty soon. Thinking about trying canister pattern welded steel out of the smaller pieces and grinding dust.

That's looking good. Can't wait to see it etched and get a peek at the pattern.

Here's the blade after it's been etched. Not much of a pattern since this is a single steel folded steel blade 128 layer count. Here soon I will show you a folded steel 64 layer count will get it etched this weekend.
