St Nihonto blades are ok. I don't like my fittings and Tsuka though

For me, sword collecting gets no better than this!

The Prussian sabre is breathtaking! It looks like it could have been forged yesterday, even better considering its history and significance to you! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad jealous

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad jealous :) thanks! It actually looked better when I was a kid. My dad let some minor neglect take over and some rust formed on the scabbard. I very carefully removed what I could and have preserved it as best as possible when I became its caretaker. I am always working with my sons on the care of swords so that when my blades pass to them they will have the knowledge and skills to take care of them properly.

Whoa. Assuming I'm looking at the correct Nihonto, you weren't kidding when you said 'crown jewel'. That is one amazing sword. Also your family saber is lovely! What a great collection you have.

The Masamitsu... yes. I think I should name it “Walletcutter” lol. In seriousness I think it could be a good Juyo candidate and I may try to take it through the process in the next couple of years.

I am guessing I paid about 1/5th its worth. Average price for Masamitsu’s work that ISN’T as nice as mine (though usually accompanied by Juyo papers) is between $45-65k USD

Truly awesome collection! I hope to someday have one like that! About that Masamitsu though, I'd be terrified to go anywhere near something that valuable, let alone own one.

And why I have the cases and dessicants. Honestly I am looking forward to taking it through the Juyo process at some point. I am pretty confident it may pass Juyo. And if not, Tokubetsu Hozon is a shoe in. It is pristine, in fantastic polish, signed and dated in still clear and legible mei, and has all the hallmarks of his later work.

Yeah. My only real sword in my possession right at this moment is my Stiklestad. Its sharp, its durable, its fun to use. However, other than its practicality and sentimental value as my first real sword, it's just a sword. I've been to the Metropolitan museum of art in NYC, so I totally agree with the aura feeling. Even though we can make swords today that are better in every practical way than the antiques, nothing compares to the "soul" of a real piece of history.

Added some of the pics of shinto customizations (still some fitting of the habaki to seppa needed). Also added a special nod to you Blade Runner and put a table of contents in. Trying to figure out how to do the goto/jumpto working.

Trying to figure out how to do the goto/jumpto working. Nice! As in E Book nice. How many display cases in total, do you plan to have on the walls by the end of 2018? Look forward to starting my own collection thread in 2018.
