If I didn't put this in the right spot I'm sorry, I wasn't sure where it should go I am making a new longsword and my original idea for a pommel isn't going to work. I was hoping someone may have a good idea for one as I can't seem to think up a good one that fits. The sword will have a brown grip by the by, not black as it is now. Also I am going to peen the pommel, not thread it This is what I have so far

The pommel should match the crossguard. It looks more like a bastard sword with an a bit shorter blade and a longer handle, so a longer pommel won't be good. I'd say someting like the Hanwei Rhinelander or a scottish claymore.

Maybe a round brass ball? Not too large, so solid (except for a hole for the tang) might be good.

Lol stormmaster, beelzebub is hilarious.
My original idea was for a flared pommel similar to the Rhineland we pommel, but it seems to me that a pommel that is the same size as the end of the grip may look and feel strange because my grip is very very small at the end, only about a half inch wide. So I was considering something a bit wider than the grip is. My top choices as of now are either a round pommel like the hanwei hand and a half, or possibly a Norse type pommel, although that may be a bit strange. A fishtail type pommel may work well. That is also appealing.

Oh, I think I missunderstood. Without a real crossguard it's more like an Jian. Perhaps a brass ring or a brass pagode smaller than a viking pommel.

Well, it is a fantasy design, and I like the look of short guards. This guard is 2.2 inches, the blade is 2 inches at the base. 100 thou wider per side. This is really a hand and a half sword. With no pommel the POB is only 5 inches from the guard right now. So a large pommel is not necessary. I agree with those darksword "feanor" pommels. They were terrible. I had one myself, but replaced it with one I made. I was just kinda thinking that something other than a scent stopper type would be neat.

I could make one similar to a single hand sword I made awhile back, I was just trying to think of something else that may look neat this is the "single hand" sword I was talking about. I realize it's really a bastard sword but eh. Details

I like the earlier pic, short guard on this one too. (Even though I usually like long guards.) Yes, very jian-like. And EVERY variation has both advantages and disadvantages.
Anyway, for the really short guard, I like a plain small brass ball pommel.

Have you thought of getting a pommel cast out of brass? If not, what about something like these? Or this: What do you think?

That moon shaped one. I like that. A lot. It's perfect. I may change a couple slight aspects, angles and such maybe. But that's perfect. Thank you very much. Not it's time to get to work!
