Thanks for the post. I had such a bolo in my collection. I also had a hospital bolo. That one was rather unique in that the blade was sharpened only on one side, no point, and left in the white. The information that I could find on it at the time was scant to say the least. One thing that I thought was interesting, and now rubbish was that the blade was only sharpened on the right because most men were right handed and that aided the efficiency. The knife was not a fighting knife and designed to cut splints etc. I believe the one sided sharpening gave a sharper edge easing the job of making splints.
