Ceremonial military sabers' or swords' blades are made of stainless steel, usually too brittle for fighting. Of course real carbon steel sabers or swords can be used as a ceremonial sword. And some stainless ceremonial officers' swords have a good heat treatment and wouldn't break by just swinging them around, but they're not "safe" enough in a blade vs. blade fight. Just stop. Go post a poll on ceremonial swords

This thread was created for listings. There are various subforums here and a world of information out there for the curious. I have pursued my interests and spent towards any perceived goal. I read stuff like this "I've never had the desire to do much research about them." Then, it seems somewhat expected that some are either looking for quick fast food, or are actually on a way to a different path and actually have an interest. Believe me when I say, searching m1902 will bring up much more than I am likely to type.
Sorry, I won't clog this thread up anymore.

I am interested but bad timing. I just made a purchase this morning that had been in the making since December. So far it hasn't been going smoothly. For one it trip flags and my credit card challenged it. That cost me two international phone calls. Prior to that they added the shipping charges of each items separately padding their pockets more. Hopefully it will be downhill from here.

Very tempting. Thanks for the heads-up. When I bought from him in the past, the transaction was easy. Fast shipping. Item as described with no unpleasant surprises. I like the new website.

paint2 has a couple of cuttoe reproductions, along with the Potter but has now added a period correct US m1860 cutlass and we will see collectors buying them for the scabbard alone. www.ebay.com/itm/1860-Ames-Navy-Cutlass/184719638066?When watching for original cutlasses, note that most had the wire removed and will have a stamped number on the inside of the guard. These newly made will have wire and no serialized number stamp. There were, of course, private sales from Ames and Schulyer, Hartley&Graham but cast a wary eye on these if seeing wire and no number. This reproduction should be a cut above the other offerings but I'm not in the market, just noticing. The two cuttoe look good as well.

That looks pretty cool but I imagine gripping that antler would be somewhat painful.

That looks pretty cool but I imagine gripping that antler would be somewhat painful. Yeah, talk about no slip grip, and gives new meaning to the word texture. Still a good looker for sure.

I edited my post before I saw yours, Great minds think alike! (or as we Germans say: "Two fools, one thought!") Confucius say, "He who loves swords can never be a fool. He who hates swords can never be wise." 😹😹😹😹 Okay. I admit it. I made that up. Confucius never said that as far as I know. But I do like it. 😻
