Saw that this morning. Only ad pics and zero sales. Definitely was red flag for me.

It has been a long summer. The listed seller in this one is a decent fellow to haggle with. I've had five transactions and each one a best offer deal. No scabbard but here is a clean musician spadroon. A real pointy point looking feller. I'm forgetting the keystone mark but iirc, destined for New Jersey (although one would think PA). Knock him down to 150 and he'd probably come back with 175, which he would take in the first place. An upstate NY pawn shop. He has been around a long time. www.ebay.com/itm/EARLY-DATE-US-CIVIL-WAR-MUSICANS-SWORD-W-NO-SCABBARD-MAKERS-KEY-STONE-IMPORT/401900976760Cheers GC

Hence, best offers To expand just a touch; If one knows what they are looking for, one can do well. For instance this slotted hilt Osborn type eagle head pommel hanger size. It came in at well below street value. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/49877/kutlass-qualityThen an Ames broadsword minus its ivory veneer. It was basically dinner priced. My first purchase from him. The Last in from him was a minty Argentine 1909 hanger. His photos are horrible and stuff sometimes lacking in details but he is one of many pawns shops with a steady flow of "stuff" I posted the musician sword as a possible for someone. They are by and far more lively than the nco spadroons. Prices are going nowhere but up. I have a newspaper clipping for him somewhere. A large pawn shop upstate. What could one really expect? Here is the web page www.jewelryandcoin.net/Cheers GC

As extraordinary, what appears to be a special order Widmann sword. www.ebay.com/itm/1832-GENERAL-OFFICERS-SWORD/174429527246The wound copper grip wire somewhat unique to Widmann and he did make the ordinary m1832 general officer swords. The not so peculiar difference is that the blade is a broad backsword blade, where the ordinary 1832 had a slimmer narrow fullered broadsword blade. My Horstmann straight job has the same blade. Horstmann did take over the Widmann shop, employees and stock when Widmann died. It is possible this was put together by Horstmann but my hunch is not. My NY marked sword fits with the 1930s, as would this thing at auction. I would be all over it but I just can't adopt more at this point. I am done buying for now. Some other oddballs www.swordforum.com/vb4/showthread.php?118415-Odd-M1832-1834-Officer-SwordWhat one would expect www.americanswords.com/ames-m1832-1834-general-officer-s-sword.htmlThe hilt lacks a lot of the detail of the general officer pattern but the copper wire almost unique in the day. This auction's hilt is a lot simpler and as do the fancy ones are very similar to the English p1796 hc dress swords. Cheers GC
