That first link is the kind i mean. Something with the crest on the basket. I did see one on ebay recently but like this one you linked to, the engraving on the basket is almost always gone/removed unfortunately. Here is an untouched example from multi-forumite Paulo/Pino myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=37942

IMA has a large presence on ebay, with many blades and I spotted this iklwa reproduction on there [ages. The also have a shot throwing spear. www.ebay.com/itm/Zulu-War-Iklwa-Short-Spear/303131022819There are lots of other listings and a lot of the rifle covers would make great sword bags. Antique khukri and reproductions of several short swords and bolo.

Yes, too good a price to ignore. I make my rounds fairly often and would have seen that only as a matter of chance, I did post it here as soon as I saw it and perhaps we'll see it again here.
Cheers GC

I think we will I'm going to take measurements, photos, clean it, and pass it on again. Will be my first pre - 1800 sword actually. If I wasn't at a choking point for cash I would probably keep it...

Sooo out of my collecting range, but I'm almost tempted by that Bolo. My dad was in the US Navy 'Sea-Bee's' in WWII, and stationed in the Marshall Islands. I can imagine he might have used one just like this. They were tasked with building a runway on one of the smaller islands for a troop and supply drop. He had to hide behind the blade of a bulldozer while taking sniper-fire. All he had was a bolt-action carbine rifle. His buddy radioed in an airstrike, and the USAF obliged. The runway was completed. Hooo-Raww! (I don't think he needed a machete after that.)

Dad also had a whole sea-chest full of confiscated Japanese swords. They got washed away in a hurricane. If I had them now, I could probably retire.
