I have a decent but simple costume idea that I'm going to attempt once the final piece arrives friday, prepare to be either amazed or astonished at the lack of quality

About halfway there!
Okay, after listening to some suggestions and discussing it with fellow moderators, I am changing an aspect of the contest. Before, I was simply going to award the winners the prizes that corresponded with their finishing place. As of now, I am changing it so that the 1st place winner gets to personally pick their prize. Now, beyond that, I want your opinions again. Should I then allow the next winners to do so as well, pick the prize via random number generator or go through with assigning the prizes following the next corresponding prize number? We generally go with a random number generator to pick winners, but since this is a popular vote it means the winners earned their prizes with their submissions, so my go-to method does not make as much sense, nor is it really fair to the winners.
Let me know what you guys think. Don't be afraid to post your opinion even if others say something different. Also, please mention if you do not plan to make a submission at some point. I already know who has done so thus far, so no need to mention it. Those that have or plan on doing so will have an opinion that will be considered somewhat more than those who don't plan on it, but I want to hear them all nonetheless.
Thanks for making this as cool and fair as possible. Remember, you have until midnight Oct. 31st to get your submission in!

I do plan on entering. Almost did last weekend, but just got too busy. Also have to rev up the old Photobucket page to see if I still remember my password and can use it. Hopefully I can send something this weekend or next.
I do like your idea, Adrian, of letting the first place winner pick their prize. After that, its hard to say. I will admit that some of the prizes appeal more to me than others, so I almost think all the other entrants/winners choosing a prize from there on out would be a bad idea; I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by openly choosing one person's more than generous offering over another. I mean, it makes sense the first place winner would want to chose. But after that, it seems more like a school-yard pick, and those almost always leave some one with hurt feelings. All of the prizes so far are great, but a European sword might appeal to me more than a jian or something like that, for example. I guess that's just my long way of saying I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by having too much of a choice in what I wanted (if I won at all). Hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense, amigo. It's why I was just going to give the winners the prizes that corresponded with their number, but I now see that it's not fair to he #1 winner that way.

DISCLAIMER: I don't plan on entering this year. Maybe next year, but definitely not this year. Don't have time or a weapon to pose with. OPINION: I think it's best to let the winners pick their prizes. If only top 3, then let each pick one, one after the other. If more than 3, then let first two pick and do a random number generator for the rest.

Submission number 6 has a photoshopped helmet, is that allowed to hide your face?

Yeah, looking at sub #6 it kinda looks like the helmet doesn't belong to the same pictures.

The reflections on it don't look too right.

It is indeed Photoshopped... the helmet is actually the same in both pictures. Perhaps whoever submitted it didn't want his face showing?

I got word from the fellow. He was trying to keep his face hidden for the contest. He is submitting the undoctored photos. I don't think he should get totally kicked for a misunderstanding.

Did a quick google search using the image, and, as it turns out, the exact same photo appears in Google images that lead to a site called www.howtodotip.comHere is the link www.howtodotip.com/how-to-do/1248342Are we calling bs on this? He could of just pulled this picture off of Google. Just my thoughts

Looks like that is the case. I'll chat with the other moderators. They may indeed be him, but old photos. At the very least, if he's going to remain a participant he'll need to submit new photos. I'm always a bit hesitant to DQ someone, as this is supposed to be a fun and inclusive endeavor, but it also needs to be fair for everyone who made something unique for the contest. Thanks folks for the help, and I'll post the decision when I've had a chance to suss it out with the others.

Okay, some further word. The fellow in question made these images recently for a Halloween how-to project, so while they aren't brand new and specifically for this, they are him and recent. I've asked him to furnish a new picture. Beyond that, this could be a mistake explained pretty harmlessly.
If you read the original post when it was new, you probably recall that I didn't originally remember to note that the picture had to be new and for this contest, that rule was added a short time later. His submission came a short time after that. It's possible that he read my original before I added that and didn't see it. I'm not making excuses for him, and I'm not saying that that is absolutely what happened, but I'd like for him to be given the benefit of the doubt and that should he continue in this contest he be given a fair shake.

I think its fine to give him the benefit of the doubt, I assume he has showed you the same picture without the photo shopped helm, if so and he wishes to remain anonymous its fine with me and I think most of us here. I am also assuming that all future submissions have to be new content?

New, original content, please.
The original oversight was my fault. It's been quite a while since we've done done an actual real contest like this rather than a random giveaway and I'm out of practice. Bonehead move on my part. I'm that guy who makes plans, micromanages and sweats all the details, and then winds up leaving something out of everything, hahaha.
Yeah, I'd like to abstain from mentioning his username. Our members here are solid folks who wouldn't hold a mistake against him, but I'd like to minimize any potential ruffled feathers or embarrassment.
