I had a dream involving elves and war and stuff, and this was the sword carried by the elf princess, as drawn in my journal recording the event. The darkened designs on the blade were hollowed out. The blade was kind of like blued aluminum, with a little of the purple you get from bluing steel. Here is the same sword, but outlined for higher contrast: My question is, does this type of sword exist, and if so, what is it called? EDIT: Clarifying statement: The sword is held with the spike on the tip facing toward the user, the flate edge is the sharpened part.

There are a bit similar - but broader and more curved - panga machetes. The little curved ricasso would be for the index finger to wrap over. But as it is I think it's a total fantasy and a bit orkish/elvish mixed design.

Yeah, i did notice the resemblance to ork weapons. I have also seen hatchets and machetes shaped similar to this, but the sharpened edge was always on the curved side, or, "swept-forward". This one's edge is on the flat side, "swept-back". It's really weird, and i don't really see how that extra spike on the back serves any purpose.

Look up: "Gerber Gator Machete Pro" or "Haller Stahlwaren": "Devils Gear War Machete". The spike is for gardening purpose and also makes the tip heavier for better hacking I assume. Perhaps good for a light weight mithril sword.

yeah, it sort of felt like it was made of aluminum with how light it was. Mithril would be a good candidate in fantasy, but with a pretty heavy metal pommel, because the POB was about three inches. IRL, though, it would have to be thin tempered steel, with a steel and lead pommel.

The spike on the backside of the tip can perhaps be useful for a strike called "squinting strike/schielhau". You cross swords in front of you and from this position you can make a backhand attack to your opponents head, here hacking with the spike. The sword then can be called "Orkcomb"

You know you're a sword geek when you can instinctively tell the POB of a blade that shows up in a dream.
