OK so after 20 years I finally got a bow I've been wanting since I first saw it advertised. Well actually I got the skb's younger and better sibling, the Mind 50. :-)
Now I've either owned,or shot, a lot of very good quality bows over the years. Martins,Hoyt's,Predators, Tomahawks, all sorts. Some were great, some were so so,most were overpriced once you compare them to some of the better quality Samicks. I already own a Deer master which has been an awesome bow for the price, albeit a little slow.
With this years tax return I finally bought the Mind 50,and,after a fair bit of hassle with the courier company,I received it today. Now I wasn't expecting to be floored by its looks, but for a simple bow its actually pretty classy. Except for the damn pink decal ! :-)
Once strung,I was immediately impressed by the amount of pretension on the string at brace,it just feels like it wants to launch ! Which it most certainly does ! I tried some full length goldtip traditional 3555 arrows I had made up already, and man is it quick ! I'd actually believe its faster than my martin savanna stealth, which I reckon would be around 10# heavier ( mind you its arrows would be 100gn heavier ). Still I was pretty damned impressed by it.
What more can I say. Well,it weighs next to nothing,is only about 47" long strung, and still is fine for me to shoot Mediterranean style with a 30" draw. The grip is pretty tiny and I will probably wrap it to suit me. Its pretty quiet even without silencers on it. All in all I reckon its a lot of bow in a tiny package for a very modest price. Awesome !
