I procured this movie display sword recently. Although not a functional sword, it's all metal and pretty cool. Rock

I collect primarily military items and I'll admit swords are not my expertise. They're fascinating and interesting to see and handle though.

So was that the actual sword used in Camelot or a reproduction of it? If it's an actual prop, man that out does even some functional swords and is a great piece of memrobilia!

This is not the actual sword used by the actor however it falls into only a few categories:
1. Film background prop used during filming. 2. Presentation Piece given to cast/crew/VIP's 3. Promotional Piece used to promote the movie.
Or, it could be a combination thereof. As far as a reproduction-- The original swords used by the actors for closeups was slightly different and only one or two exist. The prop sword like mine were made in limited numbers for the aforementioned purposes, but never reproduced again. Each sword was made in 1967 with all metal construction, brass pommel and a steel blade coated in nickle and then enscribed with the famous phrase. Each letter was then hand painted in gold.
I spoke with an auction house and they've only seen three that have ever cropped up. Not sure how many there are but they fetch thousands of dollars, and with provenance to a cast/crew/VIP they can catch up to $17,000. I made a trade for the one I own.
Truly one of a few pieces in existence. Kinda neat.
