When Are Too Many Not Enough?

My dad had a large knife when I was a kid and try as I might have, it disappeared before his passing. It was marked EGW Knife on one side. Stacked leather handle and always blazing sharp. Somewhat similar to other WWII knives, this one kind og a cross between a MkII and 225q. He was navy. I have no idea whether it was a souvenir or he had bought it, or even been issued it. He was a Black Gang (below deck) sailor on the USS Dayton and the only issue knife I know he had then was an electrician utility type. He only mentioned the large fixed blade as "the knife" and it lived in his tool box.
EGW for EG Waterman. Two varieties were quite common to the war and more models were produced up into the 1950s.
Having found a replacement some years ago, I sold it the same year. I started buying some more of them, and then more pointy ones, and then a couple of other models, including a camp kit with utensils.
I have saved one image from a thread at the US Militaria board and there were a couple of book/catalog references shared.

The wooden handle variety is being reproduced but that version is kind of a mix of the old models. The big ones are 7" plus blades. Modification apparently quite common on the pointy ones.
I do get carried away in collecting at times and these are one of my knife vices. Does anyone else accumulate many more than they can use?
