Well, video game swords in general are rendered oversize so detail isn't lost and to have a more dramatic look. As for blades, look into longswords for more sensible size-matches.
Other then modding a Cheness or Cold Steel O-Katana into a Yamato(an expensive process), there really isn't anything close in the functional market.
One of my first proposed projects, which I had to give up on before I started, was modifying my MRL Flammard into one of the swords from DMC2. I still could probably do it, but cutting off the parrying-hooks would leave uneven spots on the forté. Also, I couldnt find anything to make the snake-head pommel other then from scratch.
If you manage to find a decent blade match, the Force Edge could be a possible mod if you have some materials experience. Pretty much everything else would require a new blade and/or SERIOUS hilting detail.
Look into MRL and DelTin. Both companies offer functional, affordable blades which are pretty much perfect for DIY projects. If you can find something close, go with it. Or just come up with a design of your own...

I can make you a blade only, which you can customise to suit your needs.

HR: thanks for the info.
Brenno: thanks, but since what I'm looking is massive, and I'm 16, I don't think I can pay the price... plus I'm too lazy to make the fittings anyway.

I notice a trend of people wanting massive, custom swords, yet unwilling to put effort into the project. And they also seem to expect these things to fall within the $300 budget scale. It just doesn't work that way. You don't need a "massive" sword. A longsword blade would do fine, and still be of functional weight once the project is complete(instead of being ridiculously large and unwieldable). You have to decide exactly WHAT you want to replicate, then begin looking for affordable production swords that are as close as possible(to save you work and money down the road). Example, say I wanted to replicate the Force Edge. images.wikia.com/devilmaycry/images/1/14/ForceEdge_3.jpgI would use the MRL German Bastard Sword as a jumping off point. www.museumreplicas.com/museumreplicas/detail.aspx?ID=664The fittings would have to be scrapped(probably an easy sell on this forum), and new ones would have to be either commisioned or made yourself. Since it won't be used in sparring or any kind, the guard could certainly be machined from Aluminum to save weight and cost. The handle would be easy to carve from wood. And the pommel could be carved directly into steel, or created through lost-wax casting, then cleaned up and a patina applied. My point is, you have to specify your goal, and how much your willing to pay and work toward it. Otherwise it's just another pipe-dream and you may as well let go.

Well, I didn't want a long sword, I want a massive one (the DMC was just a guideline for the blade size n' stuff) nor I want a custom blade. In the end, I think gen2 chaos is great for me.

::smacks face against wall::
The Gen2 Chaos sword is just a fantasy longsword. It's not "massive" in your sense.
Whatever floats your boat, kid.

Well, maybe I said it wrong, but I'm used to almost nothing but katana length blade, so to me everything over 30 inch is kinda massive.

I love both of my Gen 2 Chaos swords but I'll tell you if you want a good massive one search around, call the places that have them in stock and see if you can find the old version with the gold handle wrap under the leather. It is thicker in the blade and handle and around a pound heavier. Due to the extra weight it is a little slower but it truely feels powerful in the hand, although it is hard to find now since the it hasn't been made in around three years. I reviewed both of them before at Swords of Might. swordsofmightforum.com/showthread.php?t=332swordsofmightforum.com/showthread.php?t=232

Whippersnappers these days eh mate? Always want the biggest sword with no idea about the logistics or the real world physics of things.

if you want a real buster sword, check this guy out. You can tell that a real one can be made and used, but you would kill your back in the process.

if you want a real buster sword, check this guy out. You can tell that a real one can be made and used, but you would kill your back in the process. Real? Made and USED? It's just a giant piece of 1/4" flatstock with an inch or two edge bevel crapped on it. Not even heat-treated. Besides the fact that it only PASSINGLY resembles the Buster Sword, it's just a piece of semprini. It's too heavy to be used as a sword. From what I can see, the guy doesn't make "swords", he makes overweight, steel props. A sword is a specific tool. Just like grinding an edge on a random piece of metal doesn't make it a knife, this guy doesn't make swords.
