I'd put this in "reviews", but I really don't cover the stats and other bases that are standard for reviews here. I try to make my videos entertaining and good demonstrations of the weapon's capacity. If you want to see me cut up bottles, cut down a tree, and what the gladius looks like without its black coating, here you go!

So..as a MACHETE..which Cold Steel *claim* it is..it's pretty much a flop, no matter what it costs :( And to be brutally honest..exactly how many times has anyone heard of any of these so-called "Tactical Swords" actually being USED as a weapon ? The most that 99.999% of any of our swords are likely to encounter are water bottles or tatami mates.

I don't think anyone looks at this thing and thinks "Yes! That's JUST what I need for opening coconuts!". It does exactly what backyard cutters want, but at a fraction of the price and a much lower risk of breakage. I'm not sure that's a flop.
You're right, though. Swords aren't used as weapons much. Neither are knives, paracord monkey fists, kubotans, stingers, bullwhips, sjamboks, or spears. It's funny that people make so much money selling them.

I don't think anyone today buys a sword for a defensive weapon or thinking they're going to use it in a doomsday battle. If they do they shouldn't be allowed to own anything sharp and probably should be on some kind of medication. I buy swords as a link to our past so I'm not really interested in these tactical swords. But I can see how they would be ideal for cutting use. Why scuff up that nice polished Albion blade or take a chance on damaging it with a bad hit when you could be using one of these. Enjoy your videos Michael, always entertaining.

I have one and it's a very low cost option for the backyard cutter or a bug out bag that needs to be both tool and weapon. Excellent, entertaining video. Love the Capt America thrown shield. I'm a Cap fan, the first and most heroic of the Avengers.
Throwing the sword, like in so many movies, was a great touch and proved that it's a big risk (disarming oneself on the off chance of wounding your opponent).
Keep them coming Mike.

I have one as well and had it strapped to my hunting/tactical vest, looked cool but I ultimately took it off because it was such a dismal cutter (being more of a stabbing weapon) at least here in the northwest, vine maple anyone? swapped it out for a mini gerber hatchet. Its super fast against my pell though and feels great in the hand.

I agree that a firearm will trump a sword but with no firearm what? A sword certainly trumps open hand.

Another zombie thread? There are too many necromancers around lately.
Almost four years dormant, and now we're arguing again...

We're just stating our opinions. As fare as using a sword because you have no gun then my next choice would be a bow. Always better to take your opponent out before he gets close to you. The sword comes in when he's already close to you. If you want to fantasize being the great warrior of the sword then also fantasize you're not laying dead on the ground.

The sword comes in when he's already close to you. I had considered a bow and cross bow. I discounted the bow due to the time it would take to fetch the bow, string the bow, fetch, and nock an arrow. And if there were more than one intruder, as there probably will be, and if I was lucky enough to do all of the preceding and down one his buddies would be all over me. Ditto for the cross bow. Actually a spear would be my preference, and is what I grabbed the 3 times my alarms falsely went off, with sword back up.

Well then after you take down the first guy with the bow you then pull your sword out to finish off the other guy And if they both have guns you can fantasize you have a gun too. Naturally none of this would be taking place in a room in the house in a surprise attack. There I'll just pull out my gun, sorry you don't have one.

With bullet magazine in the grip! Great, now some of the usual suspects (kids) in this forum will be ranting and lusting over one... on second thought if we could make those and paint them black and include ninja in the name we could probably make a fortune ...
