Hello folks. I'm currently in the market for a co-moderator on the SBG Facebook page. I'm looking for someone who is fairly patient with potentially standoffish members, and is willing to enforce the rules as they are written without bias. Also, I am looking for someone who would hopefully be able to monitor during the earlier part of the day. That's not 100% necessary, but would be welcome.
A couple of things to mention:
1. You will be given moderator status for the Facebook page only, not for the main forum.
2. It's a pretty thankless job. You tell someone they are doing something wrong, they don't see it that way(though the rules are clearly posted) and they want to argue and complain. You'll be called a Nazi once in a while.
3. As a moderator, you'll be held to a somewhat higher standard of conduct.
4. This is a volunteer gig. There is no compensation or perks beyond the satisfaction of a job well done for a cause you believe in...and an overwhelming, nearly ecstatic sense of power and authority.
Duties are not intensive. You go on several times a day(no set number) and check out posts and make sure the rules are not being broken, that nobody has posted something outside of the acceptable limits, make sure nobody is bashing or trolling or being an a-hole. If they are, you delete the comment and ask the member to desist. If the transgression is bad enough, you give them the boot. Lastly, you check out the members who have applied to join the page and either approve or block them.
If you wish to apply, go ahead and send me a PM here and I will submit you for approval. Once you are approved, you will be granted moderator status on the Facebook page and will deal mostly with me. I will give you an overview of what to do and how to do it. You can opt out at any time.
