Does anyone have any experience with one? I'd like to make it my next sword, but am slightly off put by the, well, it being entirely one color. Would someone be able to remove the blacking easily?

Great sword for the money, I caught mine on deal of the day...I don't know about removing the blackening...but if it was up to me and I could do it, I'd reward the grip to a light tan and do a Black and Tan contrast. Either way you won't be disapointed.

bfoo2 has removed the blackening off of a CS sword before. Can ask him, but if its anything like the CS coating, should come off with some sandpaper

Read some more reviews, looks like I'll wait and see if it goes on to deal of the day. For a bit.

The Black looks like gun bluing. I would try Birchwood Casey Blue and Rust Remover. Comes in a bottle and for gun bluing it works great

I've taken the black off a CS sword before. I'm not sure what it is- it's black on top, but brown underneath. Could be a primer coat?
In any case, a sandpaper rub took it right off. Probably took me an hour to clean up one side of the blade using 320-grit followed by 600 and 1000

I was also considering getting the Blacksword but I was more concerned with the strength of the guard. Who ever has one can you PM me I have some questions about it's construction and material. Thx

I think gun bluing is pretty (unlike the black CS machete coating) so I'd leave it or get a different model, but I think you'd have to scrape it off the top with fine sandpaper. It's just a layer of benign rust.
