Nice review! Hope to see you handling the sword in a video soon enough. Weight is probably slightly up for what looks to be a thin-profiled blade. Probably due to that thick guard though. Matt's videos on the other RKs show that the cord wrap could've been better. Also, the distal taper on the other Euros wasn't very aggressive. Perhaps this model is an improvement over those others?

How flexible is the blade? Do you think it's sufficiently stiff for thrusting?

How flexible is the blade? Do you think it's sufficiently stiff for thrusting? I haven't flexed it a great deal but it's definitely stiff enough for thrusting effectively. There is no whippyness whatsoever in handling, and thrusts i've done while playing around and stabbing the box it came in and the milk bottle there was nothing outstanding that screams to me that it can't thrust very well.

Cheers DeepBlueDave! I can't comment for the other Euro models but there is definite distal taper, it narrows down quite finely. The cord wrap on this one is definitely serviceable and there was no glaring problems, as said in the review there was just that bit where it was tucked in that looked odd, but I don't really see that getting loose easily. When I make some videos on it i'll try and cover these little things a bit closer!

This looks to be a big move in the right direction for this line of swords.
That belt rig looks like it came from a bad sex shop eewwww. Lol
If the listed weight is correct it is well within the correct weight range for that type of sword.
Thanks for the review

Just an opinion.... That sword has one of the BEST grips and fittings I have ever seen on a sword in this price class. It's clean, someone actually THOUGHT about cleaning the pommel peen up ... all in all, it looks VERY well executed. Now - got to say.... I'm waiting for someone to tear one down . That's when we learn the SOUL of a sword . You can see under the hood of this one that Avery reviewed. Different model though... sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/43698/rk-european-sword-destructive-review?page=1#scrollTo=605489

Wellllll that post is sort of why I said what I said. DESPERATELY hoping THIS blade does not show THIS:
That would be a welded tang extension, threaded. Yes, I know we see a peen.... cosmetic? We could easily still have threads - edrigol (especially) with a totally symmetrical pommel.
An aside? I might consider one of these just to loot the POMMEL. It's really well done .

That's exactly the same furniture as my John Lee medieval longsword.
If the construction is the same it's a very good build. I just took mine apart because the blade was too whippy and the construction is solid. The pommel, grip and crossguard are the same for sure.

"That belt rig looks like it came from a bad sex shop eewwww. Lol" Yeah it wasn't exactly pleasing to look at.. "Nice review, thanks for writing it. Where in Australia are you?" I definitely agree, based off some reviews of seen there has been some really dodgy jobs and I specifically was looking as hard as I could for anything to criticize and was coming up short over and over. Really quite impressed. Thinking I should just superglue down this little bit of thread in the grip however, just to make sure it never comes undone itself.

Interesting, it is the exact same furniture except with a fullered blade. Was going to say that's strange if they're the same as mine is nowhere near whippy,
