I don't know much about john lee. I don't think condor sells a tactical Tanto, but I know they sell a wakizashi. I was under the impression that you were looking for a tactical sword. I would advise against anything from Honshu or united cutlery. Most are wall hangers

I would advise against anything from Honshu or united cutlery. Most are wall hangers Ah ,alright, I was only searching for the name, so maybe that's why I ignored those;P Well, I am mostly looking for a tactical sword/tanto because with those I expect to get a simple yet fully functional blade. But if there is a traditional looking blade to be had that fulfils those criteria too, then there is nothing wrong with that either. From what I have seen Han Wei also offers a tactical tanto (http://www.oriental-weaponry.co.uk/acatalog/tactical-series-swords.html); are those comparable to what Ten Ryu makes with their tactical wakizashis and katanas ?

The Hanwei Tactical Tanto and Wakizashi are a million times better than the Ten Ryu Tactical line. They are 5160, powder coated, accurate traditional geometry, and have a more comfortable handle. Unfortunately, they are discontinued, though they may be found in Europe. I have one that I love. The fit and finish are way better than the Ten Ryu, but they are also 3-4 times the price. You get what you pay for. Hope this helps

I've actually got a Ten Ryu Tactical Katana on the way to me now.... for only $50, I figured what the heck. I'll post my thoughts when I get it.

My Ten Ryu Tactical Katana arrived the other day and just about an hour ago I finally got the chance to open it, so these are just my quick straight out of the box thoughts. Aesthetically, I like it more than I thought I would, but then again I've never been too keen on blinged-out katanas. Surprisingly nice fit in the saya. No blade movement at all, which is surprising at this price point. The handle is supposed to be wood, but it sure looks and feels like black plastic to me. Overall, it feels nice and solid. Hopefully sometime this weekend I'll get the chance to take it outside and take some pics in daylight (and possibly behead some bottles while I'm at it).

Haven't had a chance to do much with it yet. I still hope to take some pics in daylight and whack some water bottles. Last weekend I was just too busy. Maybe this weekend, weather permitting.
