Good review and some good pics - "I think people are expecting a razor sharp edge for a $30 price tag. It takes time, dedication and skill for a sharpener to have the edge revealed shaving sharp. This sharpening is not as sharp as I would like, but it is functional to say the least. " Sounds like they have improved their sharpening, previously the sharpening has left much to be desired ending with a course belt ground bevel, kudos to DSA for the improvement

as someone who professionally sharpens swords i must add that it does not take any more than 15 minutes to properly sharpen a sword to a hair shaving edge, this was an issue i spoke with DSA personally about when they sent me a sword to be reviewed, hopefully they have taken it into consideration and will implement improving sharpening

It's a pretty heavy sword for its length. Do you find that an issue in quick and successive moves?

Thanks for all the replies thus far everyone! This was my first review, so I am pleased to hear it was enjoyed.
Croccifixio, I found that despite the weight, the sword is still capable of quick, crisp and successive one and two handed cuts. Granted, it would take a person of great strength to wield this sword in battle for a long period of time.

I can put a sharp as edge on a weapon as anybody. But on a combat sword I don't want a hair shaving edge.

I was also under the impression the LOTR models were canceled? ;-) We have some new ones here in Germany too...

I think they discontinued them months ago and have been slowly selling them. They took the Ranger off their website awhile ago, but I emailed them and they still had 3 available so I picked one up while I still could.

I am not interested in knowing "whats-under-the-tang" considering DSA anymore...not at all. I posted mainly because they told us YEARS ago that this baaad unlicensed LOTR swords would be discontinued... just another brick in the wall... by the way Wes stripped down some of their swords...ask him about the tangs! Its... interesting.

i heard this was practically unbreakable, anyone test this theory yet? Look in the review section. One guy chopped up a tree with one. If I remember right, it just loosened the hilt a little.
