Just thought I'd post some pics up of my current hunting setup, its kinda "Rangerish" lol. The bow is my old Wytchstyk,an old Martin ml-10 longbow I converted to a takedown a few years ago and put faux snakeskin on. It measures 75#@29.5" and ha taken a LOT of game. I've been shooting it a lot over the last week at 55m and have managed to get the odd 6" group, with an average of about 15". The arrows are some custom made Douglas Fir shafts that I just finished up last night, not sure how good they are,as I usually use goldtip trad carbons. The quiver I made from cow hide, its fairly adjustable,I can use it as a normal backquiver,a side quiver with bottom draw access, right or left side, fletches forward or backward. In the top I've put a bit of bark tanned rabbit skin to help quiet down the arrows. I've also made a bow bag from buckskin that attaches to the quiver when not in use. Everything on it is hand made except the stiffening rod which is an old carbon arrow shaft. I've used this a bit lately hunting red deer ( unsuccessfully ) and its not too bad,its certainly hard to get used to after using a bow quiver for 20 years lol. :-). Hope you like it !

Very nice kit. I am sure you will get yourself a deer eventually. Bow hunting is not easy, and if you recently switched your gear, it can alter your performance till you get used to it.

Looks great, really like the custom made traditional arrows too. Hoe did you convert the longbow to a takedown? My takedown recurve uses a metal riser and hex bolts.

I cut it in half then fitted a squashed stainless steel tube in the handle area,it fits together like a fishing rod. tried the arrows out today, they flew beautifully out to 33m and shot accurately if I did my thing :). Deer in Australia are a different proposition than in America,so opportuinities can be rare. Unless you have access to a property with large numbers it can be very hard to get one with a bow.
