Hey guys, this goes mainly to our european folks: Has anybody experience with a french forge called "no limits"? I am seriously interested in their variant of a Glamdring; 1199,- Euros is rather expensive for me, though not really THAT high for a custom/semi-custom piece, compared to US smiths, claiming to be completely forged and tempered by hand, fittings handforged too, including a handmade leather covered wood-core scabbard, 1075 high carbon steel blade, 6mm thickness at crossguard, 87cm long, overall 117cm, sharp! But 2,6kg? That would be the weight of my new DSA "Guardian"... www.movie-object-reproduction.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=11532915Attachments:

Not a frenchie but I'd stay the hell away... WAY too heavy. I also think the blade lacks the elegant leaf form of the original design. Seems rather clumsy.
Not liking the lurid language either... 200% functional. Yeah, sure. Though that's not the maker's fault...

Looks cool but a little much for the craftsmanship I think. How long has this forge been in production? If he's green then maybe it's worth it to support them making future swords? For example if Brennan was solely judged on his first tries I'm sure he wouldn't be the swords he is today.
I mean it's your money and if it's something you like go for it. Personally if it really isn't much better than the Darksword model which is almost half the price I'd definitely look at both and make a decision.

Here is the official website of Gaël FABRE, one of the smiths hired by Movie Object Reproduction (I have to confess I've never heard about him) gael-fabre-forgeron.over-blog.com/(Nota : in Old French, "Fabre" means... "smith") Here are some pics of a Conan sword sold by Movie Object Repro / No Limit : www.photorapide.com/albums/macss/ujguho/epee-no-limit.html%C2%A0Hope it help, Mein Freund. Sorry for not being able to tell you much more about that French store. Excepted that the rare reviews I've seen on internet are... mixed.

I've also had a look at your other suggestion www.aufildelalame.fr/Dernieres-news/Bienvenue.htmlThis guy's work seems very honorable. But we have a big "problem" here in France : we have a lot - I mean a LOT - of weaponsmiths. Some are real masters (Sabatier, for exemple), some others are... what they are. But as you can imagine, being NOT famous doesn't mean your work means semprini.... Once again, sorry for not knowing those 2 guys
