Nice cutting Steve. But the vid goes black at 1:36? I was hoping to see more. Looks like you are having lots of fun with that sword.

Steve, great cutting, I especially liked the reverse cuts! I haven't had much luck with doing that single handed, not I got something to shoot for. LOL karma for you, brother.
Nice to see ya batting a few, I like to do that to test structural integrity ;D

Steve: Better job on that one mate, did bringing the stand height up help you?
Two criticisms, first one is that you need to move your feet, step forward into the cut. So start with one foot back and step forward as you bring the sword down. Cutting from a static position teaches you bad habits in your cutting.
Second criticism, you need to watch the range of motion, control the blade, choose a point after the target and stop at that point, it will give you a smoother better cut.
Keep going mate, you are doing much better. The sword looks great as well, how do you find the blade and the balance on that one?

BW the taller stands are much better, thank you. I am having to practice keeping my focus on the blade after the cut. The fun factor is somewhat distracting ;D I am getting better, i have been practicing without the camera and i find it easier to maintain focus. Blade control is high ON my list.
This blade is very quick and light in my hand. While the grip looks kinda funky , it performs very well. the short side cuts in the vid are some of the 1st times that i tried it. Balance is around 4" from the point of the guard.(measured balanced on my finger). the blades i have cut with are all very heavy. It feels very light in comparison. Cuts bottles with ease

Do you find the auray to be "whippy?"

Good work steve. Glad you're enjoying it. My favourite sword is my Falchion with the 22" blade. Its just a go anywhere chop anything tank. I love it.
How flexible would you rate the Auray out of 10?

BW the Auray is stiffer than the Windlass Medieval and the Valiant LS sharp. Not as stiff as the DSA Ranger or G2 Wallace. It is very similar to the Windlass Shrewsbury. BW to answer the Question, No i do not find it whippy. Brenno, With 1 being floppy And 10 being very stiff. it gets a 6 from me

Steve: That sounds like a great sword mate, good length and good flexibility. Windlass are really picking up there game it seems. I have always considered getting one of their longswords but wasn't sure, maybe I might have to consider it with such good reviews and things.
Steve: You might've answered this question in the past but how tall are you? 6'7" or 8" I would be guessing.

Interesting that it is stiffer than the VA LS. Shootermike cursed what he percieved to be major whippiness when he got his Auray, but not his VA LS. Maybe they have since improved it? Or have variation in the batch.
This blade is hollow ground isn't it? Does it look damn fine? Some pics would be nice please.

Some pics as promised. This sword has a diamond cross section, possibly the slightest hollow grind. That may explain the stiffer blade. Still cuts great. This Pic is backlit and taken without a flash so that you can see there is no light under the ruler The 1st couple of times were moderate taps, the remaining times i hit the pommel fairly hard. Stats: Length Overall: 39" Length of Guard: 8.75" Weight: 2lb 8.6 oz Blade length: 31.5" Blade Width at cross: 2.25" Blade Width at 2" from tip: .75" Blade Thickness at Cross: .182" Blade Thickness at 1.5" from tip: .110" CoB: 4" CoP: 20"
