Hi guys. This is my review of my new Ryansword custom katana. It's made from through hardened 9260 steel, and all the specs are in the vid as well as the YouTube vid description. I hope you enjoy it, and I'd live to hear what you have to say about it both good AND bad.

Oh boy...i hope you can take some beating...;)...Greetings from a co-Ryan-buyer nevertheless; we are the pariahs in here! Hah, i like it! A little too ornate for my taste, but nicely done. And a very, very good, informative, entertaining video review! Well done man!

Very glad to see that you got a sword that lived up to your expectations! I keep hearing that Ryansword is improving their line-up, and this sword looks as though it attests to that. Also, that's a pretty wicked edge you put on that. Very nice. I do admit to getting a bit antsy with the paper cutting, what with your fingers being right there. Good to see that The Grape Incident didn't set your guns to shy, hahaha. Thanks for posting the review.

I agree with holg about the fittings but the world would be boring if we all liked the same things. Well done review. Chalk one up for ryansword.

nice polish job and sharpening, good vid! habaki fit could have been a little better, love the snakes (the live ones) all that fluffy white stuff is snow, right? don't see any here in South Aussie, also nice to see Ryansword becoming more competitive.

Hmmm...not so much beating until now...maybe some guys grow short of arguments watching that sword... That is but one, and a custom at that, time and reviews will tell, have not owned one here in Aussie. Handled an earlier version about two years ago, 2 stars out of 5.

I actually ordered those fittings for my raptor unokubi lol Right on! They are GORGEOUS!!! The tsuba is pretty heavy, but it brings the point of balance closer to the tsuba...and makes the tip feel lighter. In fact, with my sword, it kinda feels like I'm ONLY swinging the tsuba around. It's pretty sweet.

My, you're a big fella. Pittsburgh, eh? I've got a cousin there, and it's where my mother's fiance's family hails from. Never been into the city proper, but been in the outskirts once, nice place. Fittings aren't my thing at all, I don't do shiny and I don't do weird shapes and textures...which rules out a lot for me. That said, aside from the minor gripe about the habaki (I've seen worse, admittedly) I'm quite impressed by the shape of the nakago. Seems more Chinese forges are starting to "get" how those should look, and it's good to see. Likewise that kissaki isn't half bad, though the bohi isn't the best. Average, I'd say, which is fine in the end. I'm just really finicky with bohi. You already said the itomaki could be better, so I'll just agree and concede that leather is really hard to do nicely. At least it alternates, and while the end knots are a bit...bulgy, I'll let somebody else tell us if the're at least right. Definitely seems like your blade is a good one, and some neat cutting in there. I still won't be buying from Ryan Swords because of their long history here, but if I see a few more swords like this one I might start thinking they're okay.

LOL Pittsburgh sucks. I hate it here. I'll be moving south or west just as FAST as I can. The fittings are definitely loud, and far more ornate than my taste would usually allow...but as you can see, I REALLY like snakes! Still, It's quite understandable that they will not suit all tastes. Your evaluation is spot on, and I'm curious to know if the end knots are correct also. It's a pleasure to meet you, Random!
