The Scabbard I wanted a scabbard that fit the image I had of a utilitarian warrior of the mid 11th century. I commissioned it with no chape, and with the thong tied belt which was common for the period. Bryan Heff nailed the look that I was going for. On a more functional note, the fit of scabbard and belt are perfect. He asked for my beer gutted (my words, not his) waist circumference prior to the commission, and the thong terminates exactly where it needs to for a comfortable and secure fit on my waist. The scabbard itself is a great fit, you can turn it upside down and shake and the sword doesn’t move, but neither is it slow to draw. I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking, but I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a scabbard.

love the review, the grip would not be good for those of use with larger paws, the whole piece says "to battle we will go!"

I was hoping you'd chime in.
Definitely a comfortable thickness in the grip, at least to me. I discovered the Jarl suffers from the thin grip-itis, it's almost too thin for my small hands.
The Bayeux grip fits me like a glove.
Thanks again for the awesome scabbard!

Very nice sword and scabbard. I love the review, especially the wealth of pictures. This really communicates the truth of this sword.
I just got a 2nd hand Bayeux that's been aged, along with a very similar scabbard/belt from DBK. Sweet handling sword, though I'd really like another 1/2" of grip length. But it is what it's supposed to be. Looking forward to getting mine sharpened up and giving it a go on various targets. I hope to see more about this wonderful type of sword.

Mike, I've enjoyed many of your cutting videos, looking forward to seeing what a more experienced collector can do with this meanie.
