Hopefully MRL will still be giving the SBGWEB 10% discount. I just ordered a wooden Gladius from them for a display I'm building and got the 10% off.

The Windlass Munich is no longer available at KoA.... :( Wonder if this has to do with the pricing changes. Its still at MRL, so probably not actually out of production....yet

MRL may be looking at eliminating their dealers and only selling direct. You figure if they sell a sword for $300 and sell it to a dealer like KOA for $150 then KOA sells it to you for $250 you're not going to buy it from MRL. So MRL get a $150 sale instead of a $300 sale. In this bad economy a lot of companies are down scaling in order to put more money in their pockets.

Believe me, it's not that low of a wholsesale price to begin with. The only way to make a decent profit would have been ordering several thousands of $'s worth of products, thereby reducing shipping costs to the reseller overall.

I was just using those numbers as an example. Having owned a retail business for 23 years I know on a lot of things dealer cost is usually 50% of retail. Those numbers were changing as the economy got worse, dealer cost would go up but MSR would go down.

When Jason Ryan,(Trueswordsmen) used to own AOV, He used to tell me that he couldn't compete with KOA's prices because they sale their swords pretty much his dealers cost. If I remember correctly, there was some Windlass's swords that KOA sold that were the same price if not cheaper than dealers prices. I kinda of new this already because I have a Cold Steel 2002 Dealer's price list, and even to this day, KOA sales CS swords $40 to $60 over the 2002 dealer's price list. That's 17 years ago and we know prices have gone up since then.
KOA really spoils us.

Had to special order it in. Need to wait a few weeks, and it was retail price (265). I figure I will make it back on the shipping and customs though at the very least.
I was really worried it was going OOP actually. The Munich is a sword which I wouldn't normally buy, but I like it enough that I would regret it if it disappeared before I could get it

Just because KOA doesn't have it, doesn't mean Windlass is going to stop production on it. If you are worried about a sword always best to contact MRL before you jump the gun.

I expect KOA will stop selling some Windlass swords altogether and they'll still be available at MRL.

Will be interesting in the future to see what people will be trying to sell their pre-owned Windlass swords for.
Like when Albion/A&A raised their prices the last couple times and people where selling their swords for what they originally paid for them. I always love it when they use the sales pitch that a new one costs this much and makes it look like they are taking a loss selling it. In many cases, they bought the sword prior to the last couple increases and are losing nothing or making money.......It is all cool and they can ask what they want.

A thing is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.

That is true. I have been guilty of paying more than I should have on more than one occasion.....Actually way more than once.

Don't get me wrong - I was already on the fence anyways, so am happy either way. Had already put out inquiries in the classified section, so was almost committed to getting one eventually. Apparently the 1913 Patton saber is pulling the same trick. Wonder what it will come back as. I also suspected that its a popular enough sword that selling it would not be an issue :P Maybe I will pull that same trick, and sell it in a few years for what I paid :D

I expect KOA will stop selling some Windlass swords altogether and they'll still be available at MRL. True, and no different than what Hanwei did after the forge fire.

I notice some Windlass swords on KoA are already bumped up a bit. Heron Mark sword is now about $20 more, and I believe the raptor is $20-$30 more as well. Probably others but that's just from glancing last night.
