I met the Depeeka Rep at Roman Days last year and he talked about this.....The Maintz looks great.

As a bit of an update, I received one of the new gladius designs today and am very disappointed to say the least. Deepeeka have made so many improvements in the shape of the blade and grip, the sword is light and very well balanced. The blade isn't thick like their previous models (more like a Windlass blade in thickness) and the scabbard isn't bulky and fits the sword perfectly.
Unfortunately all these improvements don't matter at all when you go to check the tang and the thing snaps! Never had anything like this happen on a sword before, not even older Deepeeka models! The blade also takes a set with very minimal force. Its a real shame overall as I had such high hopes for these new designs. Of course this could just be a one off and I simply got a bad one, but even so my trust in any of the new swords they have has unfortunately gone. Luckily it wasn't expensive and I can still use the hilt components if I find a decent blade somewhere.

Well that's to bad, I was looking at the Sica to mount on the Gladiator display I'm working on. Did you hit something with it or were you trying to take it apart. Not that it matters, a failure is a failure. Hope they replace it for you.

I just unscrewed the nut and the thread came out with it unfortunately. Would still like to get a look at the tang but it would take some work as the hilt is glued on.

Guess if nothing else you could always epoxy it back in and just use it as a wall hanger.
