I have always liked drawing swords and other weapons, and for the longest time drew mainly cool but completely impractical fantasy ones(the more edges, curves, and spikes the better). Latley after getting into functional swords I have sketched out some designs(mainly in school while supposed to be doing my work) and here's a little compilation of some of my best. Let me know what you think ! This batch, though meant to be functional and involving a lot of influence from different historical designs, are my creative compilations of those elements and not necessarilly meant to represent real examples of any historical period.

Whats wrong with that? They needn't be impractical. Thats my endeavour, to make edgy, curvey, spikey fantasy blades that are fully functional. Thanks for the post, keep them coming.

I like the one on the far right. Looks like a katana/two-handed falchion hybrid? With a slightly pre-renaissance guard look? Just guessing, but it's nice.

I really like the second one, the "Ancients Legacy". Looks like it would be an awsome blade. Keep up the good work and post more pic of blades when you can.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm glad you like them. More will be sure to come, and on the next bunch I'm going to try really hard to outdo the first as much as I can-with a little more time and effort, I think I can do that np. Daneal-that is my favorite of the designs as well. It was actually most influenced by the bastard sabers I saw at Angus Trim's site, which I think are based on a pre-early renaisance Swiss design. Brenno-that is true. Crazy and functional can be done, but my point is my earlier work was pure fantasy and really lacking in the functional part. I'll put my skills to the test and have you a couple of functional fantasy designs in the next batch

The blade and crossguard actually Last time I checked, most katanas weren't double edged, diamond profiled, nor possed quillions.
