I am looking for a sword rack that is well made and holds between 6-8 swords. Can be wall mounted or standing on the ground. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I know there is a blades USA one with a samurai symbol at the top but this got some bad reviews in terms of its construction being weak. Also its a bit pricey to get in Canada (about $75 after tax and shipping). If I could get something under $50 it would be nice.
Thanks!

Got one.... Build it. Oak 1x2's, and "wide" coat hooks from EBAY. I have two, attached to wall studs (every other stud), eight feet tall and each one can hold 12 swords. Oh yes - 6-8 swords? Double it.... you WILL buy more :). Same here. Built mine, but I used oak dowels instead of coat hooks. Very cheap and easy to build.

Can you guys take pictures of the racks you made and post them?
That would be great, thanks!

Paul nice deal! The shipping kinda kills it though the 8 sword rack with the symbol at the top is 20... but 30 to ship to Canada. Kinda sucks but might go for it.

I wish I could claim my rack, I came home one day and my mother's fiance (I can only assume at her insistence) had mounted some shelves on my wall, with two additional support "arms" between each shelf. I threw a bunch of stuff onto it, using the intermediate "arms" as my "sword rack." As of last month, it looked like this: It's even harder to see the swords now. The eight-sword unit on SoM should be okay, as long as you put it together right and everything fits properly. Otherwise, I'd side with those who say make your own. Some boards, some good nails and/or screws, and a couple of hooks or dowels will do the job. Those hooks might be a little on the small side for most scabbards, but could do in a pinch.

Gunnar that looks cool. Good idea putting the hooks right into the wall.
I ended up just ordering the 8 tier track with the symbol on the stop from swords of might.
Since the shipping was a lot but products were cheap I also grabbed a standing 8 tier rack.
We'll see how they workout. Hopefully it will be ok.

I've always wondered on these larger standing racks if there is an anchor at the top which is fastened to the wall.

This is free standing not anchored to the wall and I never had any problems with it falling over. I have two swords on it now but plan to have a total of five soon. It's all in the design and balancing.

I use a bow rack like this from Sportsmanguide I drilled a few extra holes and added some more dowel pegs and can put 4 swords and my bow on it. For me, it was something different than the standard sword racks, and well I needed a bow rack and a place for my arrows. So combining the rack for bow and sword worked well. I would show you a picture of mine, but it is still in NJ awaiting me finding more permanent housing in the NW.

That bow rack does have a nice look to it... I rather like it, myself.

I ended up just ordering the 8 tier track with the symbol on the stop from swords of might. At the moment there is no 8 tier rack at SoM. Maybe you mean one of these: For being hung onto the wall this has a single hole behind the bar with the symbol on. That doesn's work if the rack is loaded. So it has to be stabilized. I've done that with some iron angles (the red marked areas), but there are many other ways to do it. I cannot recommend this rack. I only use it in my training room to store a weapon temporarily and have some very plain but not so wiggly ones for presentation.

I have found that do to my limited space, what works best for me and are rather inexpensive are coat hangers from ace hardware. They average about $4.59 for a package of two screws included. They come in several different finishes, such as brass or oil rubbed bronze or chrome and they are close to the same price, whatever the finish. Now what I use to protect the sword finish. I use 3/8" clear rubber tubing. If you heat a five inch section in the microwave for approx 40 seconds and then use a drop of oil on the end of the hangar the tubing will slide on all the way to the edge were it mounts to the wall. The nice thing about these are that they can be adjusted in width for different blade widths and up or down to adjust for different types of cross's. Another additional positive is they can be spread apart and used to hang the swords horizontally. another thing is that these can be used as mounts on a wooden stand if a person wanted to. The curve of the coat hook is large enough to hold either the grip or the cross. And with the rubber hose over it it won't scratch or wear against the swords finish. And best of all they are quite a bit cheaper than most of the specialty type hooks I have seen for sale to use with swords. Attachments:

You have a great collection going on there Alan, love that viceroy.
I'd love to be able to display a few swords in this way but unfortunately the laws were I live require them to be under lock and key. I've contemplated changing the door handle on my study to lockable so I can do this but it would be a pain to have a locked door in the house.

Paul I have lockable display cases and a lock on my study door, only lock it when I leave the house though, it has become a habit now to lockup when I leave the house.

I probably really should add another layer of locks, I've got a 9 year old son with quite the interest. I've got the lockable display cabinet for my swords and knives but it dosn't fit the spears.
Lol I mentioned the locked study to my wife and she said we could call it the 50 shades of grey room!

And since I am single and my children are all growed up and moved out. I have less to worry about. And of course my whole house is under lock and key. But I must say its quite comforting to know almost anywhere in my house a weapon is only an arms length away and I don't mean just egded weapons. I am a firm believer in "an armed society is a polite society. The only problem I have is I am literally all out of wall space. Now what do I Do?
