According to their reputation it ought to be well made. Looks like a wicked little beastie, if it's half as much fun as it looks like you should have a blast with it.

The overall length is 35.5" and the blade is just under 3/16" thick. Weight: 2 lb 5.4 oz. That area 4" down from the hilt looks a bit narrow to me. I don't know personally but I would hesitate to use it on hard targets.

BKS has a pretty solid reputation for quality, functional blades. My own BKS is quite a nice sword, and the others I've handled were all nice as well. While this scimitar is not my cup of tea, I doubt you'll have any durability or functionality issues with it.

I have had one of their swords before. Not much taper and the leather wrap grip without a core felt a little strange. It was a tough sword for what it was.

If I'd have seen it first, I'd have bought it. I love BKS swords; own quite a few. Most are built to be stage swords so they're very durable, but as stage swords the geometry isn't designed for cutting. Sharpen them up and they work well enough on bottles and such. I'm actually a big fan of the leather other tang grips as well.

I own 6 Zombie Tool blades and love them, this seems to be in the same vein.

I've owned many BKS swords... as Pogo said they got their start and most of their business making stage combat swords. Their weapons had to endure night after night of steel on steel contact... so they are made pretty durable. THAT one is two weird and funky looking for my taste, but I'm sure it will be well made. I've had a few Zombie Tools weapons also... BKS won't be QUITE that tough.

I grabbed the other two :D...the longer scimitar and the dagger; see the "New Aquisitions" thread. I own two more BKS swords (Fantasy Yataghan and the SBG Straight)and i am very pleased overall with their quality; rock-solid assembly in the first place! These scimitars have good distal taper and speedy handling...really love them!

You should be able to beat the snot out of it, BKS stuff is pretty tough.
I presume that the MEH............ was due to the handling?

Sorry not to get back to you guys...we had a death in the family and I've been focused on that. Anyway, I was just expecting something a bit more substantial. It's kinda small light and thin, but then I'll go back the other way and start to like it BECAUSE it's small light and thin. It reminds me of my Shun kitchen knife, they are small light and super thin, but cut meat like it's not even there. It's not the blade it's me being weird. I've been vacillating on this one. I'll get to spend more time this weekend cutting with it and come up with a final verdict.
