Most excellent, Firehand! Me and my woman just watched the video. I will have to work on her to cut some. I think your girl cuts pretty good left some bottoms setting and some mutliple cuts. You better watch out she'll show you up. We love the music. If I could I'd give her some karma, so I'll give you some.

Gotta love that big smile! Looks like you 2 were having a good time. She did a great job. I can't wait to show my wife tomorrow. This will be my excuse to buy a light sword ;D ;D. There's Nothing like playing together as a family +1.

Looked like she had a great time!
Did she find any of the swords to be easier than the other? It almost looks like she feels more natural with the Chaos but it may have to do with getting used to cutting... I ask because it seems to me from observation that western sword grip lend themselves to a more naturally efficient style whereas when using the tsuka I notice people swinging much more wildly. Perhaps it has nothing to do with holding the sword and has something to do with how the sword feels... I don't know.

Very impressive, she's pretty good at this. Are you sure it's her first time? Keep her at it, and one day she WILL be better than you, maybe even have a bigger collection.

Yup its her first time and I think she's already better than me. I mentioned getting her a sword and she said she'll just play with mine so I'll still get to do the collecting. To answer vyapada- She liked the two handed swords better than the one and she liked the katanas better than the broadsword. Mostly it was due to weight but she said the katanas were easier to use to her.

It's great that you've got your wife interested in cutting - do you think she wants to maybe start training?
Just a pendantic poing of caution though - watch what leg is forward when cutting - most every JSA will teach to cut downard *away* from the lead foot: better safety better body mechanics for power.
Train hard, train safe - have fun.

I thought it was VERY impressive! Yes, her form wasn't perfect, but notice how she didn't overswing. She wasnt trying to "kill" the bottles, she let the sword do the work. Result was many muliple cuts and very few batted bottles. I think we can all learn something here.

aww, no outfit? She looked much more natural with the chaos but then I think two handed swords lend themselves better to women cutting because most of the time they don't have the strength to wield single handed swords very easily. Keep her interested and keep up the good work.

That's very cool. I have to show my wife this video and attempt to tweak her interest in cutting. Both my 9yr old Son and 12yr old Daughter have tried cutting. My Daughter could take it or leave it, but there is not a water bottle in site that my Son lets go by. He likes cutting as much as I do. My wife on the other hand does not want to watch. I am hoping this will change that. Thanks for the vid, I hope it will inspire my Wife to try it too.

I think we'd all get a kick out of watching your kids cut, too, wizzbang. Should you ever feel like snapping some photos or shooting a video with them (provided they're up to it and you don't mind their faces on the internet (masks?)) I'm sure it'd be a fun watch. Of course, that's only if you're comfortable with it, but the idea of young kids getting a good start in this hobby is pretty pleasant. I trust you're teaching them properly? By all means, get the wife into it, too. One big, happy family of sword swingers, what more could one want?
