Gents, could this one be taken as useable, considering steel type and length, as well as one piece construction? At least on light targets? Feedback welcome! www.unitedcutlery.com/ProductDet ... 066&cat=KR

Personally I would say not no but hel no!
Cheap stainless steels do not make good swords - and 3cr13 is just a cheap chinese steel. I think it equates to 420j2, which isn't even intended for knives. This might make it less likely to break (less brittle) but it'll probably be more likely to bend, for the edge to warp and I'd be very surprised if it held an edge as well as a butter knife.
JMO!

Well, being a one-piece construction and most likely pretty soft steel, it probably wouldn't fail as disastrously as most stainless steel wall hangers but I wouldn't go so far to call this thing usable.

You are right. In fact that is what I have observed with cheap stainless. The thing that is cost cheaper, normally the quality is no good. Better prefer the expensive one as you don't waste your money. _____________ asp batons
