I've been drawing blades for years now, and though my time recently has been dedicated to launching my "light target cutting blades" at my website dapperblades.com I figured it was time for me to share some of my other designs. I will not claim that my designs will outperform any historical blade, but I will state that I believe any of these designs could be made into a functional blade that would at the very least be interesting to use. I'll start with a sword that I've been thinking on the past couple of days. This sword is somewhere between a grosse messer and an XVIIIe, with a D shaped guard. Is the guard practical? No, but it sure looks awesome. Overall length: 40" Handle length including pommel: 12" Blade width: 1" at guard, 1.5" at widest point Blade thickness: .25" at guard, taper to be determined. This next one is a thrust-oriented 2 hander. Certainly XVIIIe inspired, though smaller and without the downturned guard. Overall Length: 50" Blade width: 1" at guard, 1.25" at widest point Blade thickness: .25" at guard, taper to be determined, but keeping a thick triangular cross section for blade stiffness. Single ring guard. This post will be updated with more designs later. Thanks for any feedback.

It looks like something that an Imperial Navy officer from the Warhammer 40K universe would carry.
I like it.

At some point when I stop being quite so poor, I would enjoy making a sword like this. I think if I could get the center of gravity right on this it would be quite lively.

Don't think much of the square guard, a nice oval would go well

A fair suggestion. I'd consider it.

It would seem that the crom killer could make a decent starting point for your second design if you could grind out the ricasso. I wouldn't mind at all seeing that one rendered in steel. The first one is kinda cool, but a little too steampunk airship captain for me.

Fair. I'd rather not break down the "Krom" into parts, and while it does have some similar dimensions, I think that ultimately the planned blade would be a bit too different. Next time I come into a bit of money I may get some stock and grind out a couple of blades so that I can get as close to the planned dimensions as possible.
Also, I can see "steampunk airship captain." More so if it were a 1 handed sword. I would imagine using a 40 inch blade in those tight airship corridors would be difficult.
