www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic ... highlight= It's nice and all, but $15000? I mean we're looking at angel sword bucks here! Seriously though, I'm pretty sure you can get a Peter Johnsson for significantly less than that..

Someone else tried to get a cheaper price on a sword like that, it didn't happen. Those ridges and those silver fittings aren't easy to make on the cheap.

Well, i love Raven Armoury scimitars, i`d love to get one and have it as the only sword i have. However!!! 15k for it. NO! 3k yes 4k maybe, but not 15k!!! 1oz silver is around $20 and i don`t think silver is a hard metal to work with. That hollow ground blade and everything about the scimitar is stunning but still not 15k!!!

If you look at Ravens website for the cost of a new one, and then do a currency conversion you will find is a big difference in price between what Raven charges and what this seller wants a 50% mark up might be a bit much, but as it his sword he can ask what he wants. not sure if I'd pay that for a second hand sword.

You're also looking at a pretty nice heirloom quality nihonto (new or antique) as well

Close as I have come is a Raven blade with Ernie fittings and a Raven blade with Lundemo fittings. Do like a few of their swords though. My absolute pain level on price is $2,500.00 USD. Funny thing is the couple swords I paid around 2k for are not even my favorite swords in my collection.

Agree with this... I think about all the custom Odinblade stuff I could get for that price... the Atrim blades I could send to Ernie and what he could make with them, the Albion swords I could grab, those Rob Miller's I have been wanting... man... I could get a lot of amazing steel for 15k. That sword would be a tough sell at half that price.

LOL! I misread the post, I thought it was $1,500 instead of $15,000. My mind just wouldn't accept "$15,000" as the number, as that's ridiculous! You can get a brand new one from RA themselves for thousands less.

Got to say it's a nice sword, I really like it..... But not at that price. For 15k there are 2 Albion's I want, an odin and the attached pic and I might even get some change. But to be fair to the seller it is easier to come down in price than go up, you never know there may be a collector out there that dosnt want to wait the 5 years and is prepared to pay a premium. Reading Raven Armourys description i cannot see that the silver fittings are mentioned somewhere; nor the gemstone nor the silver fittings on the scabbard. I think its a "custom custom-made"...

I think the seller is assuming the 'get it now, no wait time' is what is worth the extra 5k. Raven Armory is notorious in the industry for having the LONGEST que... I think 5 years or so now for a sword.

On a somewhat related note, why does Raven charge so much for their normal pieces? I mean, they are exquisite - probably some of the cleanest pieces I've seen but wow... $3500 for their standard type XIII. It's a gorgeous blade, but you could get several Albions or a custom piece or two elsewhere for that price.

Supply and demand. Market supports their prices. I personally have a set price that I will not exceed for any sword purchase.

So did mine, i even logged in to my armoury to make him an offer. Then i realised it was $15000. I was about to offer $1300

That's of course the most obvious answer. I guess the real question is who would pay that much. Perhaps an owner of a RA piece can comment on that.

If i pay 15k more over my car i can get the new Stingray base model. To pay 15k for a sword i have to be driving a Ferrari not a Genesis.
