We are happy to announce the creation of the above mentioned data base, viewtopic.php?f=18&t=22339We hope it will be of benefit for (re) builders and shoppers alike and we would like to ask all members who are taking down their swords to make a contribution. The format is simple. Go have a look in the Custom section and tell us HERE what you think. The DB is data only. This is an initiative of the members Findlithui, Brian Heff and Ulahn, with the generous co operation of Mr. William Swiger. Cheers.

Thank you guys for the comments. Thank you Voltan for your contribution. I am glad this DB idea hits the spot, so to say. To avoid any confusion: The DB is DATA ONLY and is situated here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=22339THIS thread however is solely for the social side of things, comments, suggestions and so forth. Cheers.

Excellent thread. Hopefully this database will live on for a long time. Anybody who breaks down a sword... Please take a few minutes to take some pics and post your findings. This could be and will be an absolutely fantastic resource for any of you who are into doing it yourself. Building swords, reworking swords... This kind of data is key. So by all means, if you have anything to add please do.

Want to say thanks to Ulahn for posting pics of the Eglinton Basket Hilt tang. Very encouraging to see that as well as the thicker blade stock, despite the shortcomings covered in his review. I just ordered one and will attempt to put a Cold Steel Scottish Broadsword basket on it, or maybe the basket from a Wulflund sword if I can figure out how to attach it.

Hey Hoplos.
I see you already removed your post from the DB. Too bad. I send you a PM about that. I hope that if you have Eglinton related questions or any questions at all, we will be able to help you. Just ask away. There are many here at the forum who have the expertise and know how. Glad to have met you.
Cheers.

The db is great! I wish we had included pommel and guard weights as a regular spec though. It would help those looking to build off a blade know where to start for balance matching or changing etc.
