This review is a brief and incomplete findings of my sword, due to a problem with the peening/pommel. I own one other Darksword sword, and have no affiliation with them.
Blade stats:
Total length: 36.5"
Blade length: 30"
Blade width at base: 2.25"
Weight: 2 lbs 4 oz.
Blade thickness: 1.8mm
POB: 3.5"
My friends wanted to buy me the Arming Sword for a birthday present, and after they paid they were told it would be eight weeks to ship. We waited, and a week ago I was thrilled to have it finally show up at my door.
Impressions:
In my initial impressions I very much loved the sword. The upgraded sheathe with the sword belt is a must. The sword itself feels great in the hand, handles very well, is gorgeous (minus some imperfections, but I came into it expecting some having owned a Darksword piece before). I was very sad and surprised though to see that the pommel did not line up properly with the guard, which was strange. I put some pressure on it to test it and with little to no force it spun. It was free-spinning, and was not tightening, though to spin it the other way loosened it some. I contacted Darksword via their website twice in the last week and a half, with no response. Finally today I decided to call, and while I talked to someone rather unsympathetic and unapologetic to the problem, they did say that they can probably send it away at some point this week and fix it.
I do like the sword a lot, and would love to try it out more and give cutting videos and some better understanding to the handling of the blade, but it's just not safe to do so right now.
Temporary conclusion:
With the eight week wait and then having to send a defective sword in I'm not sure if I would buy Darksword again, but I do love the sword for what it is and hope they can patch the matter up. I'll keep you guys updated with how it plays out.
